Kevin Jenkins At Converse SPARTANBURG — Kevin Jenkins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Jenkins of Route 2, Kings Mountain, is a member of the second largest entering class in the history of Converse Col lege. She and her classmates begin classes on the Spartanburg campus September 18. Peggy Printr, director of ad missions at Converse, credits the high enrollment figures to Con verse’s emphasis on career and pre-professional programs while maintaining a strong liberal arts tradition. All of the members of the class of 1984 were active in high school clubs and organizations and a majority participated in their student government associations. Their average SAT scores are well above the na tional average according to Miss Printz. Little Theatre. Tish Merrill, daughter of Mary Merrill of 2007 Pamela St., Ga.stonia, will play the part of Elizabeth Somerville. A graduate of Ashbrook High School, Miss Merrill is a senior speech and theatre arts major at WCU. Randall Marion Longshore, son of Mrs. Willene Longshore of 702 North York St., Gastonia, will play the part of Robert Poley. A graduate of Ashbrook High School, l.ongshore is a senior speech and theatre arts major at WCU. Jon Eric Poston, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert M. Poston Jr. of 1102 Groves St., Kings Mountain, will portray Edward Arden in the play. A graduate of Kings Mountain High School, he is a sophomore geology major at WCU. During its premiere, the play will be judged as an entry in the 13th annual American College Theatre Festival, a program of the University College Theatre Association which operates as a division of the American Theatre Association. “Seed of Damnation” is directed by Dr. Donald L. Loef- fler, head of WCU’s department of speech and theatre arts. Set design is by assistant professor Richard S. Beam, with costume design by instructor Ellyn D. Brannick.
