C. Burris, of Belvedere Circle,
who died Saturday night, will be
conducted Wednesday after
noon at p.m. from Mount Zion
Baptist Church of which she was
a member.
Rev. D.W. Whittenburg will
officiate and interment will be in
Cialilee Baptist Cemetery at
York. Ihe body will be taken to
the church at 6 p.m. Tuesday
and the family will receive
friends between 7 and 8 p.m. at
the church.
A native of York County,
Mrs. Burris was daughter of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Walker Burris.
She is survived by one daughter,
Mrs. Louise Cole of Kings
Mountain; one son, William
Lindsay of Falls Church, Va.;
one brother, James Cole of
Kings Mountain; II grand
children, 14 great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the hotne
of Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Cole
on Belvedere Circle.

Mountain Rest Cemetery.
M rs. W'hitaker was a native of
Cleveland County and daughter
of the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter
FI. Carpenter.
She is survived by her hus
band, Walter P. Whitaker; five
sons, Jackie Whitaker of Symr-
na, S.C., Danny Whitaker of
Bessemer City, febby Whitaker,
Billy Whitaker and Roy
Whitaker, alll of Kings Moun
tain; three daughters, Mrs. Don
(Pearl) Sellers of Bessemer City,
Mrs. J.K. (Peggy) Brooks and
Mrs. Lloyd (Shirley) Blanton of
Kings Mountain; two brothers,
Charles Carpenter and Bill
Carpenter, both of Kings Moun
tain; four sisters, Mrs. Paul
Smith, .Mrs. Andy Dover, both
of Kings Mountain, Mrs. Max
Clark of Dallas and Mrs. Vivian
Watkins of Savannah, Ga.; 23

A native of Blacksburg, S.C.,
she was the widow of Dan Bcn-

William F. and Ida Ross Cherry.
She was a member of Bynum
Chapel Church where she served
as superintendent and secretary
of the Sunday School, president
of Buds of Promise, church
pianist and member and Chapter
No. 7 president of the Eastern
Star and Secret Sister Club.
Surviving are three sons, Don
W. Bennix, Carl L. Bennix of
Kings Mountain and Martin 1..
Bennix of Bronx, N.Y.; three
sisters, Mrs. Genie Cherry and
Mrs. Lorrene Cherry of New
York and Mrs. Coline McClain
of Kings Mountain; five grand
children and one great
grandchild.
