Octobar 30. 1900 Lutz Tapped Fund Leader f KIMBERLY LYNN HARMON ENGAGED — Mr. and Mrs. William Brunson Harmon of Route 2 announce the engagemeixt of their daughter, Kimberly Lynn, to Terry Gene Franks, son of M'r. and Mrs. James Hale and the late Lalon Franks of Kings Mountain. Miss Harmon is a 1976 graduate of Kings Mountain Senior High School and attended Appalachian State University where she was a member and treasurer of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. Mr. Franks is a 1974 graduate of Kings Mountain Senior High School and received his B.A. degree from Appalachian > State University in 1979. He is employed by Southern Bell Telephone Co. in Charlotte. Oak Grove Baptist Church will be the setting for the February 14 wedding. William D. Lutz of Shelby has been appointed Cleveland Coun ty chairman of North Carolina State University Alumni Association’s 1980-81 Loyalty Fund Campaign. Lutz, a 1953 graduate of N.C. State’s School of Education said: “There are 324 N.C. State alumni in Cleveland County, and we’re counting on them to help sustain and expand our first true merit scholarship program. Volunteers will be calling the Alumni in the County Nov. 10 to Nov. 25 asking for their sup port.” The Alumni Association established NCSU’s first unrestricted merit scholarship program, the John T. Caldwell Scholars Program, in 1975 and commits a large percentage of its annual loyalty fund revenues to the program. The association’s major thrust is to enhance the academic posture of N.C. State through programs designed to at tract top scholars and recognize outstanding teaching. Lutz will work with Jackson D. “Jack” Koone, the associa tion’s coordinator of a 10-county area that includes Cleveland. Koone, of Forest City, is an alumnus from 1956 and recently served a three-year term on the Alumni Association’s Board of Directors and served as secretaryAreasurer of the association in 1976-77. Koone is with Bradley-Koone Motors in Forest City. Support of alumni in Cleveland County and the sur rounding area will be a key in the association’s efforts to raise more than $400,000.
