CHARLES SAMUEL MASTERS Funeral services for Charles Samuel Ma.sters, 50, of 502 Westview Street in Shelby, were conducted Wednesday at 3 p.m. from Union Baptist Church in Shelby, interment following in the church cemetery. Mr. Masters died Monday at his home. Mr. Masters was found dead Monday afternoon with a gun shot sound in his chest. Assistant Coroner Jim Gold ruled the death a suicide. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ruth Wood Masters; two sons, Chris Masters of the home and Dale Masters of Lattimore; two brothers, Bennett Masters of Kings Mountain and Marvin Masters of North Wilkesboro; Haunted House Open In Grover The Grover Volunteer Fire Department is sponsoring a haunted house through Saturday night. The five-room haunted house, which includes such horrors as Dracula and the Chain Saw Massacre, is located beside Grover Town Hall and behind the Grover Fire Department. Persons under 10 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Admission is one dollar. All proceeds go to the Grover Volunteer Fire Department. The house opens at 7 p.m. each evening. Spook House To Continue For the price of pennies you can attend your own funeral and participate in many “Hallo- weenish” things. That’s how Trinity Church of the Living God is advertising their Spook House, third house from TG&Y, which continues tonight, Friday and Saturday, beginning at 6 p.m. Admission is $1 per person and a variety of Halloween tricks and events are on tap, ac cording to a church spokesman. Alan Hord Appointed Alan L. Hord, son of Mr. and Mrs. James B. Hord of Kings Mountain, has been appointed a noncommissioned officer (NCO) in the U.S. Air Force. The sergeant completed train ing in management, leadership, human relations and NCO responsibilities, before being awarded this status. Sergeant Hord is an education specialist at RAF Upper Heyford, England. AFC Henley In Exercise Air Force Airman First Class Dennis W. Henley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hoyle C. Henley of 1409 Shelby Road, Kings Moun tain, recently participated in Reforger 80 and Crested Cap, North Atlantic Treaty Organiza tion (NATO) training exercises. Reforger (return of forces to Germany) and Crested Cap (strategic deployment) demonstrated U.S. capability to rapidly move ground and air forces to reinforce NATO in a crisis situation. More than 17,000 U.S.-based personnel (active. Reserve and Guard) participated in the exer cises. Airman Henley is assigned to Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, N.C. HAUNTED HOUSE Westover Baptist Church will .sponsor a Halloween Haunted House Thursday night from 7:30 until 8:30 p.m. at the church on Shelby Road. Mr. Masters was the son of the late Sam Ma.sters. Ma.sters Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. HOBERT H. HUSKY SMYRE — Funeral services for Hobert H. Husky, 80, who died Sunday night in Gaston Memorial Hospital, were con ducted Tuesday afternoon from Carothers Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Fain Farmer, interment following in Gaston Memorial Park. Mr. Husky was a retired elevator engineer. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Imogene Phillips of the home, Mrs. Caloesa Chastain of Belmont and Mrs. Maxine Leonard of Lowell; three sons, Florie Husky of Mount Holy, Orous Husky of Kings Moun tain, and Hursel Husky of Lowell; two step-daughters, Mrs. Evangeline Taylor of Lincointon and Mrs. Eudall Wright of Cher- ryville; 24 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
