October Bride Is Entertained At Parties Miss Lisa Renee Tignor and Timmy Whitaker, whose wed ding took place Sat., Oct. 18th in a candlelight ceremony at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Whitesides at 906 Boyce St., were entertained at a number of parties prior to their wedding day. A drop^n lingerie shower was held Wed., Oct. 8th, at the home of Mrs. Robert Crawford, 811 Rhodes Ave. Co-hostesses were Mrs. Don Bumgardner and Miss Cathy Crawford. The bridal col ors of apricot and white, along with salmon roses and white daisies, were beautifully combin ed in the decorative details. Petit fours, mints, punch and nuts were served to the 20 guests. The bridal table featured a white lace parasol with gifts sur rounding it. oOo Sunday, Oct. 12th, a household shower honoring Miss Lisa Tignor was given at the new home of newlyweds Scott and Tammy Ellis on Long Branch Road in Grover. Co hostesses were Mrs. Lois Ellis and Mrs. Myra Hagans. Twenty- five guests were in attendance. oOo Monday, Oct. 13th, was Lisa’s lucky evening. An old fashioned pantry party was given by Mrs. Dorse Whitesides on Boyce Street and the engaged pair were showered with pantry gifts. The guests attending were attired in long dresses and bonnets, overalls, red bandannas and straw hats for a happy and spirited occasion. oOo Tuesday evening, Oct. 14th, brought most surprises and gifts for the couple at a miscellaneous shower given by the bride-elect’s classmates and attended by IS young people. oOo Saturday morning, Oct. 18th, Lisa and Timmy’s wedding day began with a wedding breakfast at the home of Mrs. Ira Bumgardner at 806 Hillside Dr. A silver horseshoe, symbolic of good luck, was given to the bride-elect. Mothers of the t hiOnored pair were honored with corsages and gifts from the hostesses. A busy week of activities culminated with the candlelight wedding at 7 pjn. Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Whitesides on Boyce St. Miss Tignor is the daughter of Linda Hawkins Tignor and Ronald Eugene Tignor. Mr. Whitaker is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Whitaker. Both families are of Kings Mountain. Miss Hullender Is Honored Miss Elaine Hullender, whose wedding to Jeff Dixon took place Saturday, was honored Saturday at a 12:30 bridesmaids luncheon at the home of Mrs. Louis Sabettie, Jr. on Hillside Drive. Entertaining with Mrs. Sabet tie were Mrs. Pat Murphy of Burlington, Mrs. David Collins of Gastonia and Mrs. Clyde Murphy of Kings Mountain. A three-course luncheon was served to 16 guests from tables appointed with gold and brown silk flowers and dried ar rangements. Ivory cloths covered the bride’s table and the card tables at which other guests found their places. Miss HuUender’s place was marked with a corsage of white daisies and a silver casserole serving dish, gifts of the hostesses. Miss Hullender took the occasion to present her gifts to members of her bridal party. Present as special guests were Mrs. Jake Dbton, mother of the bridegroom-to-be, and Mrs. Bob Hullender, mother of the bride- elect. SHELBY __ SHOWDK! NoTcmbw 6. 1980-KINGS MOUNTAIN HERALO-Pag* 3B The annual Depot Senior Center Benefit is scheduled for November 8 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. The project is held each year to raise funds for a Christmas party for the participants of the Kings Mountain Program for the Aging. The senior citizens raise their own funds by volunteering their time and many articles for the sale. The popular Senior Citizens Band, better known as the “Sw inging Mountaineers,” will kick the program off at 10 a.m. and will play at other times throughout the day.
