The board took no action on
the matter, but suggested a call
ed meeting after all facts are
gathered.
In other business Monday, the
board;
•Heard a report from Grover
Principal Jim Scrugs on the pro
grams at Grover School.
•Heard a report from Jane
Shields, Norma Cissell and
Carolyn Roark on the Programs
for Exceptional Children.
•Approved renting the
Grover Principal’s home at a
cost of $175 per month, and that
$50 of that rental fee be returned
to Grover School’s summer
recreation program. Mr. and
Mrs. Scruggs have purchased a
home of their own in Shelby.
•Approved the appointment
of Joy Moskal as assisting
teacher in the Reading Program
in the temporary absence of Mrs.
Martha Bridges, coordinator.
•Accepted the resignation of
Gary Shields as assistant prin
cipal at Kings Mountain Junior
High, and appointed Richard
Hamrick as Acting Dean of Stu
dent Activities for the remainder
of the year. The position of assis
tant principal will not be filled
until after the 1980-81 school
year.
•Received copies of an audit
conducted by the A.M. Pullen
Co.
•Was told by Supt. William
Davis that all principals, assis
tant principals, counselors and
other personnel from Central,
the junior and senior highs plan
ned to meet to discuss the high
dropout rate in the school
system.
