The win was the third straight overall for Coach Danny McDoweU, who coached last year’s jayvees to the SWC cham pionship. Frank Parker led the KM of fense for the third straight game with 29 points. David Hager had a fine all-around game with 16 poins and 12 rebounds. Parker added six rebounds and four assists and David Peeler had five Rickenbacker Player Of Week The S’b” guard was 10 for 16 from the floor for a 62J% shooting effort and she hauled down four rebounds. “Priscilla played the best game I have ever seen her play,” said Wesleyan coach Laura Ferrell. Ricken backer played for Coach Ferrell last year when they were both at Methodist College. Rickenbacker is a graduate of Kin^ Mountain Senior High and is the granddaughter of Rev. Junior High Cagers Open Monday Kings Mountain Junior High opens 1980-81 basketball action Monday at Crest. The Patriots, who won the Western Junior High Athletic Association championship four of six years under Coach Ken Naiper, will be playing under new head coach Rusty Clon- inger, an Appalachian State grad. Napier is now coaching at Ashley Junior High in Gastonia. “1 didn’t see any of the teams play last year, so it’s hard to predict how we’ll do,” says Clon- inger. “But we hope to have a good season.” Cloninger has several players who performed on the Patriot jayvee team which won the con ference title last year. Members of the team are Curt Pressley, Brad Reynolds, Arnold Jordan, Larry Crocker, Tyrone Grier, David Pettus, Sammy Godwin, Michael Lee, Thomas Putnam, Quinton Rikard, Zack Roseboro, Heath Chapman, Jeff Barnette, Brian Byrd and Shane Absher. Terri Smith will coach the Lady Patriots, who will open Monday’s action at 4 pm. The varsity girls got in a prac tice game recently against South French Broad and scored a 41-37 victory behind the 18-point scoring of Sonya Mc Clain. Dawn Morris and Anita Ware led the rebounding for the Lady Pats. Other members of the team are Lisa Birskovich, Lavondra Boyce, Tina Gregory, Lisa In gram, Debra McClain, Alena Moore, Janelle Parker, Beth Wilson, Carolyn Smith, Jill Plonk and Lisa Nation. “I’m not too familiar with the competition, since this is my first year of coaching basketball,” said Coach smith. “But we’re practicing hard and hope to have a good year. David Peeler had a good floor game and John Barnette had a good defensive game for us.
