Red Cross Bloodmobile Has Successful Visit
The Red Cross Bloodmobile
was held at KMSHS on Wednes
day, Dec. 3. Workers reached
their goals with 191 donors; 76
were first-time donors; and 2S
were deferred. Donna Wright
was KMSHS Chairman of the
Bloodmobile, and Jolean
McHone and Boo Robinson
were Co-Chairmen. Martha
Scruggs was the Red Cross
representative.
Performers from the Magi
cian’s Talent Show Agency in
Charlotte visited KMHS
Wednesday, Dec. 10. The
assembly was arranged by the
SPO (Student Participation
Organization) whose president is
Boo Robinson; Vice-President,
Richie Land; and
Secretary/Treasurer is Lee
Neisler.

Wrestlers Finish Sixth
In Gaston Invitational
Kings Mountain High’s
wrestlers finished sixth in the
eight-team Gaston Invitational
Tournament last weekend at
East Gaston High School.
Ashbrook won the title,
followed by East Gaston, Crest,
Hunter Huss, North Gaston,
South P(xnt and Chase.
The Mountaineers, who are
rebuilding under veteran coach
Steve Moffitt, had only one
champion. Bernard Womic took
the title in the 138-pound divi
sion.
Todd Bell finished third at
14S, Joey Wyte third at 105 and
Caje Etters fourth at 126.
“We’re young and have a lot
of learning to do,” commented
Coach Moffitt. “Still, it was good
experience for us. We know now
what we’ve got to do.”
The Mountaineers return to
Gaston County Friday night to
face Ashbrook and East Gaston
in a tri-meet at Ashbrook, begin
ning at 7 p.m. The Mounties
open Southwestern 3-A Con
ference action Monday at home
against North Gaston.
Preliminary matches will get
underway at 7 p.m. and regular
action will begin at 7:30.
Three Autos
Stolen Here
Three automobiles have been
stolen during the past week and
city police say that keys were left

engine warmed up.”
Two of the vehicles were
recovered.
A 1973 Plymouth Fury,
belonging to Sidney Eugene
Hunter, of 412 York Rd., was
stolen ^turday in front of Grif
fin’s on West Mountain St. The
car was recovered on Dixon
Road during the weekend.
Jack A. Brown, local in-
suranceman, left his car on S.
Battleground Ave. and went into
Fred Kiser’s Restaurant for cof
fee. He returned in a few
minutes to find his car stolen.
The 1973 Chevy Malibu, valued
at $500, contained $650 in
checks and assorted hunting ar
ticles. Police are still looking for
the car. Ptl. G.E. Sale was in
vestigating officer.
A 1974 Chevy Impala, belong
ing to Walter (Chuck) Huff-
stickler, reported stolen on Dec.
4th, was recovered in Gastonia

careful” during this holiday

you and don’t carry unusually
large sums of money,” he warn

will dine and dance in a festive
red and green Christmas setting
at the annual Christmas party
Friday night.
Dinner will be served from 8
until 9 p.m. The Wining Com
binations will play for dancing
from 9 until midnight.
Members of the host commit
tee are Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Allen,
Mr. and Mrs. Brian Bickley, Dr.
and Mrs. Tom Baker, Mr. and
Mrs. Chuck Ballew and George
Sharf.
The clubhouse has been
decorated in red and green. A
country tree is the focal point of
decoration in the foyer, and pop
corn, red apples and red birds
have been us^ to carry out the
theme of decoration. Christmas
wreaths and red bows are used
throughout the clubhouse.
EMPLOYMENT SURVEY
Local representatives of the
Bureau of the Census will con
duct a survey of employment in
this area during the work week
of December 15-19, 1980.

Senior Portraits were
distributed on Friday, Dec. 5 to
students who brought the
balance of the portrait-package
price. A Delmar representative
will return on Wednesday, Dec.
17 for unsatisfactory portraits
and to distribute the remaining
portraits.
Mrs. Susan Patterson, who
sponsors the tutitorial program
at KMSH and co-sponsors of the
Mountaineer Staff, was named
Teacher of the Year at KMSHS.

day, Dec. 10.
The Journalism Staff is spon
soring a Christmas Card Contest
with a $5.00 prize for each win
ner of three specified cateeories;
humorous, artistic, and poetic.
Clubs that are raising goods
and money for needy families
are the Key Club whose
members are raffling a turkey,
the Beta Club, collecting canned
goods, and the SPO, collecting
various items for three needy
families.

night for the discussion of the
club’s observation of an actual
post-mortum (autopsy). Rhonda
Bolton, an X-Ray technician at
Kings Mountain Hospital spon
sors the club. Officers are Diane

Blair, Secretary/Treasurer.
