Mills Romulus Harvey, 92, of Bostic, a former Kings Mountain minister, were conducted Mon day at 3 p.m. from First Wesleyan Church of Cherryville by Rev. J.W. Stiles, Rev. Wat son Black and Rev. Roy S. Nicholson, interment following in Mary’s Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mr. Harvey died Saturday morning in Cleveland Memorial Hospital. He was a native of McDowell County, son of Rev. Mills A. and Rev. Sarah Reed Harvey. A retired minister of 50 years ser vice to the Wesleyan Church of North Carolina, he was a member of the First Wesleyan Church of Cherryville. He attended the Central Wesleyan College and Hadley Bible School and was a song evangelist, artist and poet. He ministered to churches in Kings Mountain, Forest City, Asheboro, Canton, Old Fort, Mount Hebron and did mission work in Tuckasegee and Cherokee counties. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Emma Clde Beam Harvey, two brothers, the Rev. T.C. Harvey of Liberty, S.C. and the Rev. L.A. Harvey of Hendersonville, and a grandson. Memorials may be made to First Wesleyan Church of Cher ryville. MRS. GERTRUDE CROOK GROVER — Funeral services for Mrs. Gertrude Bratton Crook, 87, of Route 1, were con ducted Thursday at 4 p.m. from Gordon’s Funeral Home in Blacksburg, S.C., interment following in Clingman Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Crook died Tuesday in Brookview Nursing Home, Gaff ney, S.C. She was a native of York, S.C. Surviving are two sons, James •' E. Crook of Blacksburg, S.C. and John B. Is “clearly” visible RANDALL GRIFFIN Griffin Joins Carmet Staff Randall Griffin has been nam ed plant administrative manager for Carmet Company’s Minetool division, a member of Allegheny Ludlum Industries. Griffin was formerly affiliated with the Singer Co., Anderson, SC, as a cost accountant. He is a member of the National Associa tion of Accountants, and a graduate of Western Carolina University. Griffin is married to the former Mary Elizabeth Justice of Chimney Rock. Carmet Minetool is a major supplier of mining and construc tion tools. Talent Show Set Mar. 24 West School Parent-Teacher Organization will sponsor the annual School Talent Show Tuesday, Mar. 24th, at 7:30 p.m. in B.N. Barnes Auditorium. Publicity Chairman Judy Blalock said plans are well underway for the event which is a preliminary to the Kiwanis Schools Talent Show. Mrs. David Plonk is general chairman of the event. Radio Station WKMT manager Jonas Bridges will serve as master of ceremonies and while judges are making their selection of the winners Sgt. Van Hoy of the N .C. Highway Patrol will enter tain the audience with his popular magic act. Oak View Sets Revival Oak View Baptist Church will hold revival services March 15-20 with Rev. E.E. Talbert, pastor of Riverside Baptist Church of Greer, S.C., guest speaker. Services will be held at 7:30 p.m. nightly and a nursery will be provided at each service. John Caldwell will lead the song service. The community is invited to participate. Mrs. Hinnant DAR Hostess The March meeting of the Colonel Frederick Hambright Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution met with Mrs. L.E. Hinnant at her home on Cherryville Road. Mrs. Ted Ledford was welcomed as a new member. Mrs. Martha Scruggs from the Cleveland County Red Cross Of fice gave an excellent program on the function of today’s Red Cross program locally and in the nation.
