A tuition increase of $10 or a total of $70 per unit was approv ed by the Kings Mountain Board of Education Monday night. Supt. William Davis said the tui tion fee is in line with other school systems and the fee is us ed to pay teacher salaries which are up by about $1 per hour this year. Teacher salary for summer school work is $1,050. Five Fires Are Reported Kings Mountain firemen bat tled three Ores Monday and two Tuesday. Monday’s calls included a chimney fire at the home of Willie Greason, 803 Fourth Street. No damage was reported. Also on Monday, the depart ment extinguished a field fire on Floyd Street and a trash fire on North Dilling Street. Tuesday, the firemen doused a field fire on a vacant lot on Katherine Avenue and a furnace fire at the home of Betty Merritt, 827 Ramseur Street. Damage to the Merritt home was estimated at $50.
