All eight SWC teams return to South Point Friday at 1 p.m. for the conference meet. Tracksters who qualify will advance to the Sectional Meet the following Fri day at Reynolds High in Asheville. Crest won last week’s mee', followed by East Gaston, Chase, R-S Central, North Gaston, South Point, Kings Mountain and East Rutherford. The Mountainettes failed to win a first place. Linda Stowe, Diane Williams and the 1600 meter relay team won second places. Stowe was runner-up in the shot put with a throw of 29’8i/4”, Williams was second in the long jump with a jump of 15’10” and Williams, Rebecca Moore, Sheryl Goode and Cindy Weaver formed the 1600 meter relay team which finished second. Williams, Weaver, Bridget Glass and Bam McClain finished fourth in the 400 meter relay, Goode was fifth in the triple jump with a jump of 30’3” and Stowe was sixth in the discus with a throw of 74’4”. *on Mon., Apr. 13, and came back on Tuesday night to defeat Commercial Shearing 12-6. Dennis Allen collected two hits, including a home run, to lead the victory over Clevemont. Gary Dowda led Clevemont with two hits. Allen was 4-for4, including a homer, to lead the victory over Commercial Shearing. Scott Ellis added 2-for3. Jewel Watson was 3-for-3 for the losers. In other Monday games, Foote Mineral defeated Spec trum 124 and Anvil Knit defeated Parkdale 13-2. Danny McDowell led Foote with 3-for-3 and Wayne Wray and Mike Whitaker added two hits each. David Scruggs led Spectrum with 3-for4 and Dar rell Queen and Ronnie Tessener had two hits each. Keith Roberts was 3-for4 and Jimmy Camp and David Cook were each 3-for-5 to lead Anvil over Parkdale. In other games Tuesday, Parkdale defeated Clevemont 13-9 and Anvil whippeed Lil Dan’s 11-9. Bobby Short, Kenny Burton and Chris Roseboro had two hits each for the winners and Dowda, Allen and Hoghs had two each for Clevemont. Robbins and Camp had three hits each for Anvil and Joe Bell and Otis Cole had two each for Dan’s. In games tonight at City Stadium, Anvil meets Cleve mont, Foote Mineral plays Carmet and Norick meets Lil Dan’s. Action begins at 6 p.m. Wednesday night at Deal Street, Tultex plays Parkdale at 6, followed by Spectrum against Clevemont and Commercial Shearing against Anvil Knit.
