RECEIVES LETTERS - lim Arp. popular disc jockey at Radio
Station WKMT in Kings Mountain, recently received letters
from President Ronald Reagan and Congressman Jim BroyhiU

Washington. The shirt, patterned alter a drawing by Arp,
shows the American flag, and the Americon Eagle with his
clows dug deeply into the head of the Ayotollah Khomeni. The
T-shirts were sent to Washington shortly before the release of
the American hostages in Iron. The letters from BroyhiU ond
Reagan are shown here in a frame. Soid BroyhiU: "I must od-
mit the artwork on the shirt is very interesting. The idea
behind the picture is an indication of how mony Americans
feel toward the Ayotollah ond Iran.

Super Splash Saturday
The Kings Mountain Parks
and Recreation Department will
be hosting a Super Splash for the
North Carolina Chapter of the
Cystic Fibrosis Foundation on
Sat., June 20, at the Deal Street
Pool. The splash will be held at 1
p.m.
second floor of the new city hall.
Super Splash is a statewide
fund-raising event. Proceeds will
support CF research, care and
educational programs
throughout the United States.
There are two CF centers in
North Carolina, one at the Duke
University Medical Center and
the other at N.C. Memorial
Hospital in Chapel Hill.
The Super Splash will be
scheduled for three hours. Spon
sors will contribute $3.00 ($1.00
for each hour of swimming), col
lected in advance. Participants
will turn in all sponsor sheets
and money at the pool before
swimming.
The Parks and Recreation
Department will present the
prizes at Deal Street Pool on
Awards Day, July 11, at 1 p.m.
Prizes will be awarded to the par
ticipants with the largest number
of paid sponsors.
Prizes include an AM/FM
Cassette player, first prize;
Polaroid One-Step camera, se
cond; and all participants who
have ten or more sponsors
($30.00) will receive a Super
Splash beach towel. Participants
who have 25 or more sponsors
($75.00) will receive an AM
pocket radio in addition to the
beach towel. In case of a tie, the
winner will be chosen by a draw
ing. To be eligible for prizes, a
participant must have collected
from a minimum of 10 sponsors.
