BRYAN MITCHEU NORRIS (Dana Michel* (Shelly) Moss Church of God Ceremony Unites Miss Moss, Mr. Norris Dana Michele (Shelly) Moss and Bryan Mitchell Norris ex changed wedding vows June 28 at the Kings Mountain Church of God. Rev. Kenneth Looney officiated at the double-ring ceremony. Rev. William T. Moss of Bethune, S.C., gave his daughter in marriage. She wore a Vic torian gown with high neckline, lace on bodice, long Bishop sleeves and a fingertip veil. She carried a bouquet of white and dark pink daisies with baby’s breath on a white Bible, edged in white lace. The sanctuary was decorated with mixed pastel flowers, a candlelabra with greenery, and a prayer bench holding a unity candle. Delores White presented a program of organ music and sang “Whither Thou Goest”, . ‘The Wedding Song” and “The Wedding Prayer.” Lorri Moss, sister of the bride, served as the Maid of Honor. She wore a beige dress and car ried yellow carnations. Brenda Hardy, the bride’s aunt, presided at the guest register. Flower girl was Jennefer Moss, sister of the bride. Mitchell Norris was his son’s best man. Usher was Roosevelt Prenatal Class Set A new prenatal review class will begin at Cleveland Tech on August 4 at 7 p.m. The class is designed for ex pectant parents who have taken a regular prenatal class within the past three years and need on- ly'the nine hours of review exer- cisp required. The expectant mother should have reached her seventh month of pregnancy to be eligible for admittance. A new class will begin the first Tuesday of each month with each class ending after nine hours of the third Tuesday. All classes will meet from 7 until 10 p.m. in Room 893 of the new Campus Center. A SS.OO registration fee is required from each parent. Lynn Bridges, R.N., will instruct. Persons calling about reserva tions should request the class in which the expectant mtoher reaches her seventh month of pregnancy. The bride’s mother wore a two-piece lilac blend dress with a white carnation corsage, and the groom’s mother chose a two- piece pink linen dress with a white carnation corsage. For her going-away dress, the bride chose a light blue, two- piece linen dress and a corsage of white carnations tipped in light blue. After a wedding trip to Gatlin- burg, Tenn., the newlyweds are at home at 116 Fulton Drive, Kings Mountain. BRIDE AND GROOM The bride is the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. William Moss of Bethune, S.C., and the grand daughter of Mrs. Eunice Moss and the late Thurmon Moss of Kings Mountain, and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Moss of Newberry, S.C. She is a graduate of Union Christian Academy in Union, S.C., where she served as her class president for three years. Yearbook Staff president for two years, and was an honor graduate. She attended Spartanburg Technical College and East Coast Bible College in Charlotte, majoring in music. She is employed as assistant manager of Rescht of Kings in Kings Mountain. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell Norris of 510 Monroe Avenue, Kings Moun tain, and is a 1981 graduate of Kings Mountain Senior High School. His major course of study was voice. He lettered in music and received the award for the Best Musician in 1981, and Best Male Vocalist Award of the 1981 chorale. He attended the Mars Hill Chorale Clinic, All-State Chorale Clinic and was a member of the North Carolina Honors Clinic for 1981. He had a major role in the Senior Class play and received the Best Actor Award. He is employed in the distribu tion department of M.F.B. In dustries in Gastonia. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Cooper of Mullins, S.C. Wedding Bells To Ring' I il* ■ * lEANNE ELIZABETH MAUNEY (Bride-Elect of Robert Lester Chambers) ENGAGED - Mrs. Ernest Jacob Mauney of Syosset, N.Y., an nounce the engagement of her daughter. Jeanne Elizabeth, to Robert Lester Chambers of New York City. She is also the daughter of the late Mr. Mauney. Her mother is the former Doris White. Both her parents were former residents of Kings Mountain. Miss Mauney is the granddaughter of Mrs. William Kemp Mauney and the late Mr. Mauney and her maternal grandparenta were the late Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Glenn White. The prospective bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Charles Chambers of Atlanta. A September 26 wedding is planned in Faith Lutheran Church in Syosset. SANDRA LYNN MOORE (Bride-Elect of Michael Ira Bumgarner) Mr. and Mrs. Frank Moore of Kings Mountain announce the engagement of their daughter. Sandra Lynn, to Michael Ira Bumgarner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Bumgarner of Kings Moun tain. The bride-to-be is a 1976 graduate of Kings Mountain Senior High School and a 1980 graduate of UNC-Greensboro with a degree in home economics. She is employed as assis tant manager of Stuarts in Gastonia. The prospective bridegroom is a 1977 graduate of Kings Mountain Senior High and a 1981 graduate of Western Carolina University with a degree in law enforcement and criminal justice. He is now ot- tending military police officer basic course at Fort McClellan, Ala., and will join his permanent unit, the First Armored Divi sion, in Germany in October. The wedding will be on September 19 ot Patterson Grove Baptist Church. Miss Huffstetier To Wed Mr. Tayior in Charlotte Dorothy H. Huffstetier of Kings Mountain announce the coming marriage of her daughter, Laura Ellen Huff stetier, to Ira Hardy Taylor III, of Charlotte. The wedding will be held Sat., July 18, at 2 p.m. at Hickory Grove Presbyterian Church in Charlotte. The bride-to-be is also the daughter of the late Bobby Huff stetier of Kings Mountain. The prospective bridegroom is the son of Ira Hardy Taylor Jr. and the late Mrs. Taylor, of Charlotte. Bride-Elect Is Honored Two showers recently honored Miss Cindie Short, bride-elect of Lee Roberts. Miss Short was entertained at a household shower on June 27. Entertaining were her mother, Mrs. Nancy Short, and her aunt, Mrs. Betty Reinhardt. Mints, cake squares, sand wiches, nuts and punch were served. The bride’s blue and white color theme was carried out through the decorations. Mrs. Debbie Sutton and her mother, Mrs. Sue Henderson, honored Miss Short last Satur day with a lingerie shower. The highlight of the table decoration were wedding bells, flanked with white tapered candles. Miss Short and Mr. Roberts will be married August 9. COMPLETES COURSE SP4 Vaughne S. Meeks, son of Mr. and Mrs. James S. Meeks of Kings Mountain, completed a 60-hour course in Advanced Unit and Organizational Supply Procedures at Ft. Rucker, Ala., recently. Meeks graduated 15th in a class of 125. Meeks works in the Legal Services Division at Ft. Benning, Ga. He will be par ticipating in Operation Desert Storm August 1 through September 10 at Ft. Erwin, Calif. Reception Honors Wilsons On Silver Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy L. Wilson of Edgewood Acres, Bessemer City, were honored at a 25th wedding anniversary reception F riday night at Liberty Baptist Church in Gastonia. Friends and family hosted the event, which was attended by 68 people. A green and white color theme was carried out on the reception table, which held a three-tiered cake topped by a wreath with the numerals 25 in the center. Cake, punch, mints and nuts were served to the guests by Mrs. Wilson’s sister, Mrs. Nadine Carson; her friend, Dorothy Joyner; and her two sisters-in-law, Linda Deaton and Judy Collins. A floral arrangement and candlelabra graced the center of the table. Mr. and Mrs. Wilson were married on July 1,1956, in Gaff ney, S.C. Mrs. Wilson is the former Elizabeth Spencer of Kings Mountain. Her parents are Mrs. Bertie Hartsoe of Kings Mountain and R.W. Spencer of Gastonia. Mr. Wilson’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Fred Collins of Gastonia. The Wilsons are parents of three children, Chris, Cathy and Michael. _ The couple’s daughter. Miss Cathy Wilson, greeted guests at the entrance of the church and directed them to the fellowship hall. Mrs. Sandra Hammonds sat MR. AND MRS. JIMMY L WILSON / ...Honored on 25th Wedding Day at the gift table and opened gifts. Rev. David Hammonds, pastor of the church, read scrip ture and had a prayer, and com mented on marriage at the begin ning of the occa-ton. An easel holdjtg a collage of pictures taken 'Ver the past 25 years was admi'ed by the guests. It was a gift fr.m Mrs. Joyner. Showers Honor Carla Bridges Carla Jill Bridges, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl A. Bridges of York Road, Kings Mountain, was honored at a miscellaneous bridal shower Sat., July 11 at Georgetown Apartments Clubhouse on Country Club Drive. Guests called between 7 and 9 p.m. A red and white theme was carried out. The serving table was covered with white lace on lace table cloths with red satin ribbons. The centerpiece was red and white carnations with white baby’s breath. The guests were served cranberry punch along with white cake squares decorated with red wedding bells, homemade mints and nuts. Carla was presented a corsage of red carnations with baby’s breath flowers. The 30 attending guests presented Carla with many elaborate gifts. Hostesses for the shower were Mrs. Carol Ann McMillan of Laurinburg, N.C., Ms. Virginia Bridges, Mrs. Juanita Flemming, Ms. Jane Fredell and Mrs. Wan da Jordan, all of Kings Moun tain. Carla is the bride-elect of Butch Campbell of Kings Moun tain. The wedding will be an event of August 15 at Faith Bap tist Chgrch.
