Funeral services for Teen
Roberts, 77, of 213 North
Carpenter Street, Kings Moun
tain, were conducted Monday at
4 p.m. at Adams Chapel A.M.E.
Zion Church by the Rev. P.D.
Kilgore, the Rev. N.T. Brown
and the Rev. Sloan Murray.
Burial was in the church
cemetery.
Roberts died Friday at his
home.
Fie was a native of Cleveland
County and the son of the late
George and Mollie Ramsaur
Roberts. He was a member of
Adams Chapel A.M.E. Zion
Church.
Surviving are his wife. Hazel
Gilmore Roberts; five sons,
Nathaniel, Ernest and James
Paul Roberts, all of Kings
Mountain, Eugene Roberts of
Charlotte and Melvin Roberts of
Bladenburg, Md.; nine
daughters, Cora Lee Gass,
Margaret Guinn, Dorothy Mae
Reid, Ida Mae Nichols, Geneva
Ellis and Martha Gamble, all of
Kings Mountain, Sarah Smith
and Flossie Farr, both of
Gastonia, and Ella Mae Dee of
Providence, R.I.; a sister, Mrs,
Irene Ashley of Orangeburg,
N.J.; 48 grandchildren and 23
great -grandchildren.

Funeral services for Brady A.
Lail, 73, of Route 1, Grover,
were conducted Saturday at 5
p.m. at Allen Memorial Baptist
Church by the Rev. William
Parker and the Rev. Bobby
Gantt. Burial was in the church
cemetery.
Lail died Thursday night at
Cleveland Memorial Hospital.
He was a retired employee of
Minette Mills and a charter
member of Allen Memorial Bap
tist Church. He served in the
United States Marines during
World War II. His parents were
the late Mr. and Mrs. Julius Lail.
Survivors include his wife,
Grethel Allen Lail of the home;
two daughters, Mrs. Beverly
Hamrick of Grover and Mrs.
Wade (Bradine) Tyner of Kings
Mountain; one brother, Grady
Lail of Kings Mountain; three
sisters, Mrs. Moody (Bruna)
Cook of Lawndale, Mrs. Verta
Hiott of Forest City, and Mrs.
George (Rosa) Carr of Shelby;
and two grandchildren.

Funeral services for Vernisher
Clayton Brackett, 73, of Route
8, Shelby, were conducted
Thursday at 3 p.m. at Pleasant
Ridge Baptist Church by the
Rev. Jeff Clark and the Rev.
Max Linnens. Burial was in the
church cemetery.
Brackett died Tuesday, July
14, at Cleveland Memorial
Hospital.
He was a native of Cleveland
County and a retired rover
tender at the Esther Mill Com
pany. He was the son of the late
Thomas Clayton and Johnnie
Buff Brackett.
Survivors include his wife,
Lois Brooks Brackett of the
home; two sons. Fay Edgar
Brackett of Grover and Bobby
G. Brackett of Salisbury; three
brothers, L.V. Brackett and T.C.
Brackett of Shelby and M.L.
Brackett of Cherryville; four
sisters, Mrs. John Jones and
Mrs. C.B. Clary of Shelby, Mrs.
C.L. Anthony and Mrs. Dan
Jones of Boiling Springs; S
grandchildren, 7 great
grandchildren and 2 great-great-
grandchildren.

Funeral services for Sara
Chelsie Ledford Hawkins, 68, of
13 Bennett Drive, Kings Moun
tain, were conducted Tuesday at
3 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church
by the Rev. Paul Silvers and the
Rev. Mitchell Pruitt. Burial was
in Mountain Rest Cemetery.
Mrs. Hawkins died Sunday at
9:45 a.m.
A Cleveland County native,
she was the daughter of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ledford
and the wife of the late A.R.
Hawkins. She was a retired tex
tile employee and a charter
member of Faith Baptist
Church.
Survivors include two sons,
Billy Hawkins and Travis
Hawkins, both of Kings Moun
tain; one daughter, Ms. Genell
Early of Van Wert, Ohio; three
brothers, Columbus Ledford and
Thurman Ledford of Shelby and
Arthur Ledford of Polkville; two
sisters, Mrs. Donna McDaniel of
Shelby and Mrs. Lee Lail of Clif-
fside; 10 grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren.

Jackson Hannon, 70, of 210
Bridges Street, Kings Mountain,
were conducted Tuesday at 11
a.m. at Harris Funeral Home
Chapel by the Rev. W.F.
Monroe. Burial was in Mountain
Res Cemetery.
Hannon died Sunday at 12:45
p.m. at Kings Mountain
Hospital.

Mountain Rest Cemetery.
Mrs. Pearson died Wednesday
at Cleveland Memorial Hospital
after a three-week illness.
She was the daughter of the
late David Clarence and Bertha
Leonhart Wylie and a retired
employe of Sadie Mills.
Survivors include her hus
band, Robert L. Pearson of the
home; two sons, Robert C. Pear
son of Greenville, S.C., and
Lafayette Pearson of Kings

Mrs. Alexander died Friday at

She was the daughter of the
late Grover Cleveland and Dicie
Queen Carpenter and the widow
of Lawrence Alexander.
Survivors include two sons,
Don and Ronnie Alexander,
both of Cherryville; a daughter,
Joanne Runyan of Earl; a
brother, Winfred K. Carpenter
of Shelby; a sister, Hattie Bess
Harmon of Kings Mountain;
and five grandchildren.
