Pag* 2A-UMGS MOUNTAIN HERALD-Thundoy. Augiul 20. INI Letters Thanks For Support To the odiloR The 1981 16-18 year olds’ Babe Ruth State Baseball Tour nament, held in Kings Mountain during July 31-August 5, was a great success which was due to the voluntary efforts of so many people. The Kings Mountain Babe Ruth League wishes to express its appreciation to the foster parents who kept boys in their home sduring their stay in Kings Mountain, to the many people who worked in the concession stand and gate areas and to our announcers, scorekeepers, um pires and advertisers. Our thanks also to the Kings Mountain School System for the use of their facilities and th David Heff ner who did an outstanding job in keeping the field in excellent playing condition. Particularly, we wish to thank all of those who supported the tournament through their attendance at the games. Sincerely, Jim White, District III Commissioner, Babe Ruth Baseball lack Brown President, KM Babe Ruth League Thanks For Coverage To The Editor: We wanted to thank you for the excellent article you did on our group. Of all the coverage we have received, this one article has evoked more response—and more interest—in the communi ty than even the WSOC-TV in terview. We are truly pleased with the way you emphasized the benefits (and dangers) of weight reduction surgery. We believe that addiction to food is one of the most critical problems in our society and on that is ig nored by the medical communi ty. ‘The obesities” are a group of diseases that afflict a majority of Americans, and have so many physical, emotional, and social bases that it is perhaps simpler to ignore 'or ihark off to “lack of willpower” etc., than to attempt to cure. Again, thank you. You have done us a great service, and we hope to the community at large. Sincergly, Barbara B. Clark Margaret R. Carpenter WRl Exchange P.O. Box 362 StateerUle, N.C.
