The bride’s mother chose a seaspray polyester knit gown featuring spaghetti straps and empire waistline. The gown was complemented by a detachable capelet of matching sheer polyester. She wore a white or chid at her shoulder. The groom’s mother selected a yellow chiffon silista gown styled with a natural waistline and full circular skirt. The bodice of the gown featured cap slit sleeves and a white lace insert. She also wore a white orchid at her shoulder. The bride’s parents hosted a reception following the wedding at the Oak Grove Baptist ^ Church fellowship hall. The reception area was decorated with many live plants set in baskets on stands throughout the room. To further enhance the plants, in one corner of the room a picture of the bride was set on a painter’s easel. The pic ture was given to the bride’s parents. The bride’s table, covered with an apricot tablecloth overlaid with lace. NEWTON REUNION The descendants of Captain Ben Newton will have their an nual reunion Sunday at Newton Park near Casar. The cake was made by Mrs. Martha Wright, aunt of the bridegroom. Punch, along with cheese straws, orange balls, nuts and mints, were serv ed in glass appointments. The refreshments were served by Mrs. Martha Wright, Mrs. Margie Dellinger, Mrs. Barbara Broome and Miss Colette Reynolds. White rice bags, tied with apricot ribbons, were set at a smaller table and were later distributed by Miss Sandra Broome, Kenny Falls and Miss Dawn Jones. An after-rehearsal supper was given by the groom’s parents Fri day night at the home of the bride’s parents. All attendants and members of the wedding party attended the informal cookout. For her wedding trip to Myr tle Beach, the bride chose a kelly green skirt with matching leisure blouse and lifted the corsage from her bridal bouquet. Follow ing their honeymoon, the newlyweds will reside on Route 5, Kings Mountan. BRIDE AND GROOM The bride is a 1980 graduate of Kings Mountain High School. Mrs. Annette Webster presented a program of wedding music, she played “We’ve Only Just Begun”, “Savior, Like A Shepard Lead Us”, “The Twelfth of Never”, “Love Story”, “Let It Be Me”, “IP’, “Wedding Prayer”,” The Lord Is My Shepard” and “Whither Thou Goest.” The bride was escorted to the altar and given in marriage by her father, Edward Don Short of Kings Mountain. A three-tiered blue and white wedding cake was served. Blue and white flowers draped off the cake. Punch, crackers and cheese, sandwiches, mints and nuts were served. The bride’s main table was decorated with a blue tablecloth overlaid with white lace. A large flower decoration of gladiolas centered the table. Crystal candleholders, silver dishes and bride and groom glasses were us ed in serving. On the second table, a blue and white wedding bell tablecloth was used with pickups for the guests.
