A Gastonia native, he was the son of the late Rev. William A. Hoffman Sr., and Bertha Spargo Hoffman. Surviving are his wife, Frances Furguson Hoffman; a daughter, Mrs. Lynn Henderson of Pineville; and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Royster of Grover. Funeral services were con ducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Colonial Chapel of Carothers Funeral Home in Gastonia by the Rev. Raymond White. Burial was in Gaston Memorial Park. REV. MURRAY Rev. Sloan George Murray, 81, of Route I, Kings Mountain, died Saturday at Kings Moun tain Hospital. He was a native of Greer, S.C., and the son of the late Peter and Eliza Sexton Murray. He was assistant pastor at Mount Olive Baptist Church, and was a retired employee of Margrace and Oxford Mills. Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Beatrice Adams of Brooklyn, N.Y., Mrs. Mary Francis Johnson, Mrs. Marian Hunter, Mrs. Ernestine Hamrick, Mrs. Pearlie Brown and Mrs. Cora White, all of Kings Mountain; four brothers, Horace Murray of New York Ci ty, Virgil Murray of Chicago, J.P. Murray and John Murray, both of Charlotte; four sisters, Mrs. Carl Surratt of Greensboro, Mrs. Pearl Smith of Knoxville, Tenn., Mrs. Elvira Wright of Charlotte and Mrs. Jeanette Hollum of Taylors, S.C. Funeral services will be con ducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Olive Baptist Church by the Rev. Willie Maddox. Burial will be in Adams Chapel Cemetery. A.C. PRIDMORE Arthur C. Pridmore, 75, of Route I, Stanley, died Wed., Nov. 18, at Kings Mountain Hospital. Funeral services were con ducted Friday at 3:30 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Richard Plyler and the Rev. E.D. Wells. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. He was a native of Spartan burg, S.C., and the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Mason Pridmore. He was a retired carpenter. Surviving are one son, Ronald Pridmore of Charlotte; two GC Chorus Sets Program Daiia«-The Gaston College Chorus and the Gaston College Community Orchestra will pre sent a program of music for the holiday season on December 8. Members of the W'ingate College Orchestra will join the Gaston College Community Orchestra in selections by Grieg, George M. Cohan, and Duke Ellington. Alex Hegenbart, Director will direct the chorus in the Christmas Cantata, “Sing Noel” by Jeanne Shaffer. The cantata is based on familiar carols of the season. The Ladies Chorus and the College Recorder Ensemble will present a number of well known and loved carols of the Christmas Season. The public is cordially invited to attend this musical program. The admission is free of charge. The performance will be held at 8:15 p.m. in the Myers Center Auditorium on the Gaston Col lege Campus. HYDE Mrs, Verdie Hardin Hyde, 79, of Grover, died Thursday at Shelby Convalescent Center after several years illness. Funeral services were con ducted Saturday at 11 a.m. at Harris Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Harold Hutchinson. Burial was in Grover Cemetery. Mrs. Hyde was a Cleveland County native and the daughter of the late Charles and Lula Hambright Hardin. She was a piano teacher and a member of Shiloh Presbyterian Church in Grover. MRS. ALLEN Mrs. Elsie White Allen, 63, of Grover, died Thursday at Charlotte Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Statesboro, Ga., and a retired textile worker. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry David White. Surviving are her husband, Paul E. Allen; two daughters, Mrs. Lyman (Jean) Jones of Shelby and Mrs. Marjorie White of Grover; two brothers, Charles White of Blacksburg, S.C., and Arthur White of Hickory; one sister.
