DELLINGER Mrs. Bessie Mode Dellinger, 83, of 809 Second Street, Kings Mountain, died Friday at Kings Mountain Convalescent Center. A Kings Mountain native, she was the daughter of the late John Mode and Lizzie Hender son Mode. Her husband was the late Buren Lee Dellinger. Surviving are four sons, John- ’ nie Dellinger of Gastonia, Leroy ’ Dellinger of Rock Hill, S.C., : Horace Dellinger of Fort Mill, S.C., and Thomas Dellinger of Kings Mountain; two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Mace of Gaff ney, S.C., and Mrs. Grace Blan ton of Clover, S.C.; a brother, Summie Mode of Joanna, S.C.,; three sisters, Mrs. Hettie Dun can and Mrs. Sally Frazier, both of Gaffney, S.C., and Mrs. Ruby Leach of Columbia, S.C.; 22 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and two great- great grandchildren. Funeral services were con ducted Sunday at 4 p.m. at Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church by the Rev. Mitchell Pruitt and the Rev. Robert Hickiin. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. W.F. MEDLIN William F. Medlin, 5^, formerly of Kings Mountain, died November 26 in Charlot tesville, Va. He w as a native of Greenville, S.C., and was reared in Kings .Mountain. He was a graduate of Kings Mountain High School, Lenoir Rhyne College, and Lutheran Southern Theological Seminary. He was ordained into the ministry in 1951 at St. Matthew 's Lutheran Church. At the time of his death he was employed at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlot tesville. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Medlin; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Katherine Wood of Charlottesville; a son, William Eugene Medlin of Charlot tesville; his mother, Mrs. Rosa Medlin of Kings Mountain; and two sisters, Mary Medlin Leinster of Brevard and Ellen Medlin Rosberg of Arlington, Texas. R.E. CHAPMAN LACEY, Wash. - Richard Earl Chapman, 51, of 807 Ticonderoga Place, died Wednesday in an Olympia hospital. He was a retired army staff sergeant, and was the son of Mrs. Addie Chapman of Shelby and the late John J. Chapman. Also surviving are his wife, Leisel; a daughter, Linda Chap man of Lacey; two sisters, Mrs. Janelle Jones of Swainsville, N.C., and Mrs. Nadine Allen of Shelby; two brothers, Boyd Chapman of Shelby and Dwight Chapman of Grover; and two grandchildren. Funeral services were con ducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Selene Mortuary Chapel in Olympia, Wash. MISS PARRISH Miss Patricia Jane Parrish, 48, of Palmetto, Fla., died Sun., Nov. 22 in Bradenton, Fla. A native of Kings Mountain, she was the daughter of the late William Wallace and Ada H. Parrish. She was a graduate of the Kings Mountain Schools and Ringling Art School of Sarasota, Fla., and was a professional ar tist. Surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Helen P. Yates, Mrs. Sarah P. Layton and Mrs. Daisy P. Queen, all of Kings Mountain, and Mrs. Elizabeth P. Thrasher of Cedar Hill, Mo., and many nephews and nieces. Graveside services were con ducted by the Rev. Harwood Smith Fri., Nov. 28 at Mountain Rest Cemetery. VERNON TURNER PAULINE. S.C, - Vernon Turner, 72, of Pauline, died Sun., Nov. 22, at a Spartanburg hospital. He was a native of South Carolina and the son of the late Houston and Edna Jane Turner. Survivors include his wife, Lois Blanton Turner; four brothers, Charlie Turner of Grover, and Bob, Howard and Clayburn Turner, all of Blacksburg, S.C.; five sisters, Mrs. Mattie Hambright and Mrs. Delia Hambright, both of Grover; Mrs. Alice Aaron ot Gainesville, Ga., Mrs. Myra Cooper of Athens, Ga., and Mrs. Grace Stoner of Avondale, Va. Services were conducted Saturday in Pauline. Police Report Slashings Kings Mountain police reported a number of tire slashings, other acts of van dalism and larcenies during the pa.st week. Reports included; ‘Larceny of a bicycle from the home of Eddie Blanton, 1210 Northwoods Drive. •Vandalism at the home of Howard Lutz, 707 Hillside Drive. A football goal ws torn down. Damage was SIOO. •Tires cut on a car belonging to Kenneth McAbee, 806 First Street. •Tires cut on a car belonging to Charles Terry, 810 First Street. Damage was $85. •Larceny of a battery owned by Larry Melton, 1814 Alpine Drive. Damage was $30. •Tires cut on a vehicle ow ned by James Spencer, 4419 Ryan Street Durham, while it was parked at his mother’s residence at 122 Bridges Street. Damage was $200. •Tires cut on a car owned by Andrew Burris, 519 North Wat- terson Stret. Damage was $200. •Larceny of a tool box owned by Georgia Green, 802 Princeton Drive. Damage was $250. •Larceny of a dog, owned by Effie Bradshaw, 407 North Tracy Street. •Damage to a drink machine at the Kings Mountain Motor Court. •Attempted breaking and entering at the Depot Hop and Go on North Piedmont Avenue. Damage to the door was $150. Board Meeting Changed The December meeting of the Kings Mountain District Schools Board of Education has been changed from Mon., Dec. 14 to Wed., Dec. 9 at the School Ad- mini.stration Building. It will be a luncheon meeting and the business meeting will be called into session as soon as lunch is completed. The change was made because of Chri.stmas activities. Jerry Ledford will be sworn in as a new school board member and a chairman and vice chair man will be elected. Superintendent William Davis said most business items, unless urgent, will be deferred until the January 11 meeting. Red Cross Instructors Are Needed The Cleveland County Chapter of the American Red Cross needs CPR instructors. In order to qualify for an in structor, one must have a CPR certificate and attend instruction cla.sses. Alan Propst, Red Cross Safety Chairman, announces an in structor’s class to be held on December 9 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Law Enforcement Center in Shelby. Anyone needing to update their certificates may attend classes in Kings Mountain on December 7 and 8. For additional information, call tbe Red Cross at 487-8594.
