He was a retired employee of the City of Kings Mountain and was an elder in Gethsemane Holiness Church. Surviving are his wife, Rosie Moore Owens; two sons, Ronnie and Randy Owens of the home; and a sister, Mrs. Lucille Walker of Battle CrMk^Mich. Funeral services were con ducted Monday at Gethsemane Holiness Church by Elder James Mintz. Burial was in the church cemetery. WILLIE HUGHES Willie “Rab” Hughes, 68, of Route 1, Kings Mountain, died Thursday at Kings Mountain Hospital. He was a member of St. John Holiness Church in Bessemer Ci ty and Mt. Sinai Masonic Lodge. Surviving are his wife, Jonell Boyd Hughes; a son, James William Hughes of Bessemer Ci ty; three brothers, L.V. Hughes of Kings Mountain, Harold Hughes of New Brunswick, N.J., tmd Charlie Hughes of Bessemer City; a sister, Mrs. Maggie Byers of Philadelphia, Pa.; seven grandchildren and three great- ''' grandchildren. ? ; Services were conducted iTuesay at 4 p.m. at St. John :Holiness Church by Bishop jW.O. PARKER ; Mrs. Mary Griggs Parker, 92, of Charlotte, formerly of Kings Mountain, died Tuesday at Wesley Nursing Center. : She was the widow of the later William Parker. : Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. George F. Ware Of Charlotte, Miss Margaret Parker of Alexandria, Va., and Mrs. William Dorset! of Fallston, Md.; one brother, Frank Griggs of Atlanta; and 10 grandchildren. Funeral services will be con ducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. James Episcopal Church in Cedartown, Ga. Burial will be in Cedartown. D.W. BENNK Don William Bennix, SI, of 409 Belvedere Circle, Kings Mountain, died Saturday at Cleveland Memorial Hospital. A Cleveland County native, he was the son of the late Dan and Bertie Louise Bennix. He was employed as a nurse aide at Kings Mountain Convalescent Center. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of Bynum Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, was a member of the church choir and vice president of the Davidson Alumni Association. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Eula Kennedy Bennix of Kings Mountain; one son, Donnie Ben nix of Kings Mountain; one daughter. Miss Valerie Bennix of Kings Mountain; two brothers, Carl L. Bennix of Kings Moun tain and Martin L. Bennix of Bronx, N.Y.; and oen grand child. Funeral services were con ducted Wednesday at Bynum Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church by the Rev. R.L. Garvin. Burial was ip Mountain Rest Cemetery. MRS. CAMP Mrs. Jessie Sanders Camp, 91, of 907 Church Street, Kings Mountain, died Friday night at Kings Mountain Hospital. She was a native of Cleveland County and a retired textile worker. Her husband was the late Marshall Lee Camp. Surviving are two sons, George Camp of Warner Rob bins, Ga., and Charles Camp of Kings Mountain; thre daughters, Mrs. Clarence Tate of Hudson, Mrs. Evelyn Bolds of Greenville, S.C., and Mrs. Ray (Lillian) Henderson of Kings Mountain; a sister, Mrs. Eugenia Ballard of Wendell; 17 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services were con ducted Sunday at the Nazarene Church of Kings Mountain, where she was a member, by the Rev. L.K. Fannin, the Rev. Clyde Bearden and the Rev. Paul Horn. Burial was in Moun tain Rest Cemetery. NATHAN BLACK Nathan Heath Black, infant son of Nathan and Cynthia Black of Route 1, Grover, died Thursday. Graveside services were con ducted Saturday at City Memorial Cemetery in Cher ry ville by the Rev. Keith Love. Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his sister, April Renee Black of the home; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Harris of Kings Mountai- nand Mr. and Mrs. Ed Aber nathy of Cherryville; his great- grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. David Black of Lincointon; and his great-great-grandmother, Mrs. Mable Black of Crouse. R.G. ALEXANDER Ray Gordon Alexander, 62, of 1105 Groves Street, Kings Mountain, died Sunday night at Kings Mountain Hospital. He was a native of Chester field County, S.C., and was the son of the late Henry and Fannie Sellers Alexander. He was a World War II veteran. Surviving are his wife, Jennie Martin Alexander; two sons, Robert Alexander of Gastonia and Mike Alexander of Asheville; five daughters, Mrs. G.P. (Pat) Hyder and Mrs. C.W. (Kay) Rains of Gastonia, Miss Carol Alexander and Mrs. Ron nie (Cindy) Carpenter of Charlotte and Miss Donna Alex ander of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two stepsons. Tommy Laws and Jerry Laws Jr. of Kings Moun tain; three brothers, Lloyd Alex ander of Wadesboro, Carlton Alexander of Hartsville, S.C., and Charles Alexander of Charlotte; three sisters, Mrs. Vertie Harrington of Wadesboro, Mrs. Patricia Pate of Hartsville, S.C., and Mrs. Helen Shortino of Miami, Fla.; and six grandchildren. Services were conducted Tues day at Harris Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. IJL GRANT Jimmy Roger Grant, 35, of Kempton, Ind., formerly of Kings Mountan, died Thursday in Kempton. He was a native of Kings Mountain and the son of Bessie D. Grant of Kings Mountain. Other survivors include his wife, Darlene Joy Grant of Kempton, Ind.; one son, James Roger Grant of the home; one brother. Miles Jerome Grant of Kings Mountain; and one sister, Mary Lou Wright of Blacksburg, S.C. Funeral services were con ducted Saturday at 3 p.m. at Mitchell Mortuary Chapel in Tiptton, Ind. MRS. GOODE Mn. Mary McCree Goode, 61, of Bessemer City, died Tues., Dec. 8 at Kings Mountain Hospital. She was a native of York County, S.C., and the daughter of Mrs. Daisy Giles McCree and the late James Monroe McCree. Survivors include four sons, Lonnell Rawls and Robert Goode of Kings Mountain, Emanuel Goode Jr. of Upper Marlboro, Md., and Wayne Goode of Bessemer City; three daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Kent of Laurelton, N.Y., Mrs. Connie Byers of Grover and Mrs. Edna Roberts of Kings Mountain; three brothers, James McCree Jr. of Kings Mountain and F.J. McCree and John W. McCree, both of Fair Mount; and five sisters, Mrs. Minnie Utsey of New York City, Mrs. Olive Lowery and Mrs. Maggie Dun can of Winston-Salem, Mrs. Daisy Willis of Shelby and Miss Maggie McCree of Kings Moun tain. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and the (Jueen of Sheba Court No. 5 in Grover. Funeral services were con ducted Sunday at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Churcy by the Rev. L.C. Knuckles.
