The Mountaineers, who ran their conference record to 5-1 and their overall mark to 7-1, gained revenge for their only two defeats of last year, com pletely outclassing the smaller and younger Bulldogs 97-57. The Mountainettes, who evened their SWC record at 3-3 and ran their overall mark to 3-5, had their biggest offensive effort of the season and scored only their third victory ever over the Lady Bulldogs 6440. All three of those victories over Coach Tommy Pruett’s ladies have come during the last two seasons. Both Kings Mountain teams put up good, full-court pressure defenses against their Cleveland County rivals, and forced them into numerous turnovers. The girls blazed to a 31-13 halftime lead behind the inside strength of Trina Hamrick and the corner shooting of Tammy Bolton. The Mountainettes led 51-19 going into the fourth period. Hamrick, who along with Sonya McClain controlled the inside game for Coach Nancy Scoggins’ five, had the biggest night of her career with 29 points. Bolton added 14. The Mountaineers placed four players in double figures, led by Demetrius Goode with 20.
