Both teams scored their se cond win Thursday, Carson Memorial gaining a close 4341 decision over Macedonia Baptist and Boyce Memorial defeating Bethlehem 47-40. Central United Methodist picked up a forfeit win over Resurrection Lutheran. Steve Kirk scored 11 points to lead Carson Memorial over Macedonia. Mike Smith of Macedonia led all scorers with 18 points. Rusty Cloninger scored 19 to lead Boyce Memorial over Bethlehem. Mike Dixon scored nine for Bethlehem. First Wesleyan defeated David Baptist 54-39 behind a 14-point scoring effort from Jody Deaton. Jim Chapman led David with 11. Butch Pearson scored 15 points to lead First Baptist to a 43-36 win over El Bethel Methodist. Bill Allbright scored 13 for El Bethel. J. Buchanan scored 15 to lead East Gold over First Presbyterian, 41-36. Hayne Neisler scored 12 for First Presbyterian. Junior Tourney Planned River Bend Junior Golf Associatin will sponsor the sixth annual Holiday Classic Junior Golf Championship on Thurs., Dec. 31. There will be competition in four age divisons. Ages 11 and under will play nine holes from the pee wee tees; ages 12-13 will play 18 holes from the junior red tees; ages 14-15 will play 18 holes from the men’s regular tees; and ages 16-17 will play 18 holes from the men’s regular tees. The competition will be stroke play and awards will be presented to the top five finishers in each division. A hamburger dinner will be served at the awards presentation for the participants following com pletion of play. All action will get underway with a 10 a.m. shotgun start. Eligibility will be contingent upon not having had the 18th birthday before December 31, 1981. Grapplers Win Third Kings Mountain High’s wrestlers defeated Shelby 42-22 Thursday at the KMHS gym to run their Southwestern 3-A Con ference record to 2-0 and their overall mark to 3-0. The Mountaineers and East Gaston are tied lor the SV\C lead with 2-0 marks. They meet January 11 here. “Thursday’s match was tough,” noted Coach Steve .Mof- fitt of the Mountaineers. “We had four matches that could have gone either way, and all four went our way. The games were originally scheduled for last Monday at Marion but svere postponed and then mined to Kings Mountain because of bad weather condi tions in McDowell County. It svas the third straight vic tory for the Patriots of second- year coach Rusty Cloninger, and the third straight defeat for the Lady Patriots. Casey Roberts led the scoring for the Pals with 24 points and Greg Young and Lavar Curry added 16 each. Young and Tony Lewis controlled the boards fo/ the K.M five and Curry steals and 10 assists. The two Kings Mountain teams are idle until lanuary 5 when they host East Lincoln in a non-conference twinbill. East McDowell grabbed a 12-6 first quarter lead and con tinued to build on it throughout the game to post its third straight victory. Kings Mountain was led by Tracy Brooks with seven points and Linda Wray and Evelyn Roberts with sis each.
