Dewey Jasper Barrett Sr., 81, of Route 3, Kings Mountain, died Monday at his home. Braim Martin of Brookford, Mrs. Nora Cline of Conover and Mrs. Ali Lee Watkins of Kings Mountain; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A native of Waco, he was a retired road construction motor grader and a member of the Woodmen of the World. He was the son of the late Thomas L. and Annie Johnson Barrett. He was a member of Mary’s Grove United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be con ducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mary’s Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Howard Kiser. The body will lie in state at the church from 1 until 2 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Sallie Huffstetler Barrett; two sons, D.J. Barrett Jr. of Cher ry ville and Tony Barrett of Kings Mountain; one daughter, Mrs. D.C. (Doris) Allen of Lin- colnton; three brothers, T.L. C.T, FALLS SR. Cyrus T. Falls Sr., 85, of Dunedin, Fla., died Sunday at his home after several weeks il lness. A 1980 graduate of Kings Mountain Senior High School, he joined the Navy in September 1981. I REX DEFFENBAUGH lERRY TAWNEY Deffenbaugh, Tawney Join Staff At Carmet Rex T. Deffenbaugh has been named quality assurance by Carmet Company’s Minetool Division, a member company of Allegheny International. Before joining Carmet Minetool, Deffenbaugh had been a product safety engineer with Homelite Engineering. He is a graduate of Eastern Carolina University, and a member of the ECU honor roll. He is married to the former Patricia Walker of Durham, N.C. and lives in Gastonia. Carmet Minetool is a major supplier of mining and construc tion tools. Jerry L. Tawney has been named a sales representative by Carmet Company’s Minetool division, a member of Allegheny International, Inc. Tawney was formerly af filiated with F.H. Black True Value hardware in a manage ment capacity, and have been vice president of the Madison, WV Merchants Association. He is a former semi-pro baseball player, and married to the former Hannah Ruth Butler of Julian, WV. The couple have two children. Carmet Minetool is a major supplier of mining and construc tion tools. r » Laura is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hampton, Mrs. Dorothy Howell and Ray Howell Sr. Great-grandparents are Grace Hampton, Leneva Weaver and Mary Lou Blackwood. J.& THORNBURG James Elmer Thornburg, 66, of 6140 Midpines, died Thurs day at his home following several months illness. He was the son of the late William Henry and Pearl Hayes Thornburg, and was a retired textile worker. He was a member and deacon at Midview Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Elma Hamrick Thornburg; two daughters, Mrs. Pearl Ford and Mrs. Iris Dover, both of Kings Mountain; one brother. Rev. Dale Thornburg of Kings Moun tain; two sisters, Mrs. Marvin Byars and Mrs. Mildred Wright, both of Kings Mountain; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services were con ducted Saturday at 3 p.m. at Midview Baptist Church by the Rev. Fred Wells and the Rev. John Frazier.
