I Pag« lOA-KINGS MOUNTAIN HERALD-Thuridciy. January 7. 1982 Moss On Committees Kings Mountain Mayor John Henry Moss received two com mittee appointments during the past week. He has been named to the Na tional League of Cities Policy Committee on Energy, Environ ment and Natural Resources by Hugh M. Currin, President of the National League of Cities. The committee will play a critical role in the coming year in developing National Municipal Policy and will begin its work at the Congressional City Con ference in Washington, D.C., Feb. 28-March 2. Moss has been on the commit tee for three years and his re appointment is for a one-year term. He has also been named to the Gardner-Webb College Board of Advisors for a four-year term, according to an announcement by Bob D. Shepherd, Vice Presi dent for Development at Gardner-Webb. That appointment is for a four-year term and was effective January 1. Testa Chevy In New Home Jim Testa Chevrolet recently completed the final phases of construction of its new facilities at 1-85 and Y ork Road and has now moved all of its operation there. Jim Testa, who purcha.sed the business several months ago from Jerry Nation, said the com pany will hold a grand oriening in the near future. For years, the Chevy dealer ship here was housed at the cor ner of Railroad and Mountain Streets. Minnette Mills In Grover Sold •S' New Minette Textiles Inc., a privately-owned Delaware cor poration, has announced the purchase of Minette Mills of Grover. A. Neal Thompson, Minette Mills president, said the new owners plan expansion into other areas of home furnishings and other textile products and modernization of facilities. Minette had been owned since last spring by Raybestos- Manhattan Inc. of Trumbell, Conn. Thompson, who will remain as president, said the firm may consider manufacturing luxury blankets, draperies, curtains, coverlets and kitchen items such as napkins, tablecloths and dishcloths. Thompson said future expan sion will make new jobs available, but there will not be any hiring in the near future. Plans include concentrating all weaving operations in one location. Thompson said the company has acquired 16 new looms during the past two years and plans to purchase 24 more in the next 18 months. He said the additional looms might require building onto the plant. Minette was established in 1919 by C.F. Harry and current ly employs 360 people. It manufactures bedspreads and _ upholstery. » The Harry family sold Minette in 1973 to the AVC Corporation of Radnor, Pa. Raybestos-Manhattan acquired Minette last spring when it pur chased AVC.
