Fabnwry 4. 1963 Ralph Mitchem Files For County Coroner :S» Ralph Mitchem of Shelby has filed for the office of Cleveland County Coroner and will oppos ed Coroner Bennett Masters of Kings Mountain in the May Democratic Primary. Mitchem, who is seeking public office for the first time, is a dental technician and part owner of Superior Dental Lab, and has been a member of the Shelby Rescue Squad for 18 years. “I feel that I am qualified for the office of Coroner,” he said. “If elected, I promise to answer any call as prompt and efficient ly as possible.” A native of Toluca, Mitchem attended Belwood School and graduated from Fallston High School. He is married to the former Elaine Phillips of Shelby and is the father of two children. He is a member of Northside Baptist Church where he is a deacon and Sunday School teacher of the young aduh class. Mitchem served in the Army during World War II, serving for 3‘A years in France, Belgium and Germany as a medical aid. He received two Battle Stars for action in Rhineland. He was call ed back into the Army during the Korean War, serving for 16 months as a pharmacist and medical, surgical and aid man in the 2nd Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (M A.S.H.). He is a graduate of the U.S. Army Pharmacy School in Il linois and Georgia, attended Company Aid Training in Dan Honeycutt Bank Manager Dan Honeycutt assumed his duties as manager of Bessemer City First Union Bank on January 4,1982. He replaced the vacancy left by WA. (KU) Lind say when Lindsay retired after around 45 years of employment at the Bessemer City bank. Honeycutt is a native of Ben son, N.C. He graduated from Chowan Junior College and at tended Campbell College. He has been working for First Union for the past IS years, star ing'but in the Rikigh area. After working at FUNB in Elizabeth City, he was transfer red to Kings Mountain’s FUNB where he worked for the past nine years. He and his wife and son Daniel, age 9, will continue to reside in Kings Mountain. Honeycutt says he is enjoying getting acquainted with the citizens of tessemer City and is looking forward to working here. HOT DOGS ' The Chestnut Ridge Volunteer Fire Department will have a hot dog ^e Saturday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the department’s temporary head quarters behind Chestnut Ridge foptist Church.
