February 25, 1982 Methodist Women Meet February 27 In CherryviHe The United Methodist Women of Gaston, Lincoln and Cleveland Counties will hold their annual “Prayer Breakfast” February 27 from 8:45 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Cher- ryville. Guest sixaker will be Mrs. Linda Hair from Henderson Set tlement, Frokes, Kentucky. She is originally from Richardson, Texas, where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics. In 1979, .she and husband David were accepted as Home Missionaries in the United Methodist Church. They are now serving at Henderson Settle ment, a Children’s Home for needy, dependent and neglected children. David is supervisor of the Child Care Ministry and Lin da teaches in the Community Center. Her homemaking skills are a big asset as she teaches youths and adults crafts, sewing, arts and adult education. In 1980, Linda was elected to serve as a Director of the Women’s Division, assigned to the Mission GOSPEL SING Deliverance, a contemporary Christian music group, will be in concert Sat., Mar. 6 at 7:30 p.m. at Bethware School. The singing is being sponsored by the Chris tian Singles Group of David Bap tist Church. All sigle adults in the area are invited to attend. A love offering will be taken to support “Deliverance.” BLACK HISTORY In recognition of Black History Month, the Young Adult Missionary Department of Mt. Olive Baptist Church will sponsor a program Sunday at 5 p.m. Guest speaker will be the Honorable T, Jeffers, Mayor of Gastonia. The pastor. Rev. W.A. Maddox Sr., invites the public to attend. BIBLE STUDY A Bible study will begin Wedne.sday night at 7 p.m. and continue each Wednesday through Easter at Dixon Presbyterian Church. Rev. Graham Wood will lead the study. The public is invited to at tend. PINTO BEANS Senior Citizens of Oak View Baptist Church will sponsor a pinto bean supper March 5 from 5-8:30 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. Plates are $2 for adults and $1 for children under M 12. LINDA HAIR and Membership Development Section. She especially enjoys her pjarticipation in the Rea^ng Program of the Conference. Linda says, “United Methodist Women are vital and very supportive to her life and work”. Therefore, she looks for ward to any opportunity to share her experience in missions with others. By JOHN LEHTI “Christian Fathering” is a film which addresses one of the most critical needs of our day—the need for us “daddies” to take our responsibilities and opportunities with our children seriously. “Christian Fathering” featurs a “daddy” who is one of America’s leading Christian authorities on the family. Dr. James Dobson is Associate Pro fessor of Pediatrics at the University of Southern Califor nia School of Medicine, and author of several popular books on the family, including Dare to Discipline and What Wives Wish ’Their Husbands Knew About Women. It is Dr. Dobson’s desire to ACTEENS There will be an Acteen home mission study on Sat., Feb. 27 from 12 noon until 2:30 p.m. at the Kings Mountain Baptist Church. CHURCH SUPPER Central United Methodist Church will have a covered dish supper at 6 p.m. Sun., Feb. 28. How ever, heart damage is not an Inevitable result of rheumatic fever The risk of rheumatic fever can be decreased by prompt medical treat ment of strep throat infections. Any one who has been a victim of the disease has an increased risk of re currence, which can be diminished by long-term treatment with antibi otics.
