Bridal Shower Honors Amy Ware A miscellaneous shower March 4 at the fellowship hall at Oak Grove Baptist Church honored Amy Ware, whose wed ding to Tim Pearson will be April 3 at Oak Grove Baptist Church. The shower was hosted by the bride-to-be’s aunts, Mrs. Menzell table. Punch and party pickups Phifer, Mrs. W.F. Stone Jr., Mrs. Buford Ware, Mrs. Jack Ware, Mrs. Bobby Ware, Mrs. Bobby Webster and Mrs. Mike Ware. A white tablecloth and white were served. The hostesses presented Miss Ware with a corsage of white daisies. Over 60 guests called between daisies decorated the bride’s 7 and 8:30 p.m. It’S A Girl Mr. and Mrs. Danny Lee Ar thurs of Cherryville announce the arrival of their first child, a daughter, Monica Lynn, on March 3, Gaston Memorial Hospital, Gastonia. The baby weighed seven pounds, 11 ounces. Monica Lynn is grand daughter of Mrs. Ruth Leonhardt, Mrs. Shirley Allen, both of Cherryville, Henry Frank Leonhardt of Wilson Convalescent Center and Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Arthurs of Kings Mountain. She is great- granddaughter of Mrs. leona Lail of Cherryville. The baby’s mother is the former Joie Leonhardt. ITS A BOY Mr. and Mrs. George W. David Blanton Wins State Essay Contest David Blanton, third grader at Bethware Elementary School and son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Blanton of Kings Mountain, won first place in the recent State DAR Essay Contest. David’s first place award in the third grade category was an nounced last week at the DAR State Convention in Pinehurst. He was awarded a first place rib bon and check Tuesday from Mrs. Hilda Goforth, Regent of the Colonel Frederick Ham- bright Chapter of Kings Moun tain. David won first place in the local essay contest, sponsored recently by the Hambright chapter. His essay was entitled “Hope for America-How Can 1 Help?” His entry will now be entered in the National Contest.
