Robbie Wilson scored 12 points to lead the winners in the championship game. Bart George scored 12 for the runner- up. Boyce Memorial A.R.P. took third place. First Baptist had to win six games last week and had to defeat First Wesleyan twice to claim the title. First Wesleyan went into the final night of ac tion unbeaten. In the first title game, First Baptist scored a 5348 win as Doug Stover scored 12 points. Bart George led First Wesleyan with 18. It took First Baptist four over times to whip Boyce Memorial in semi-finals action, 4645. Rob bie Wilson led the winners with 15 points and Roy Whitaker led Boyce Memorial with 25. First Baptist also had to go overtime to eliminate Macedonia 41-39 in the quarter finals. Stover led the way with 12 points and Mike Smith led Macedonia with 18. <1 Mounties Lose Twice Kings Mountain High’s baseballers had trouble getting their offense going in a pair of non<onference games last week with 4-A teams from Gastonia. The Mounties dropped a 3-0 decision to Hunter Huss Friday at Sims Legion Park in Gastonia, and then fell to Ashbrook 1-0 in (P nine innings Saturday afternoon at Lancaster Field. The Mounties managed only four hits in the loss to the Huskies and only six in the defeat to Ashbrook. Robert Anderson started Fri day’s game at Huss and was the losing pitcher. He worked the ^ first two and two-thirds innings before giving way to Tommy Batchler, who finished the game. Curtis Hopper, the Huskies’ hard-throwing righthander, went the distance on the mound, and also led the Huss hitting with a two-run homer in the sixth inn ing. Huss grabbed a 1-0 lead off Anderson in the third and Hop per put down a potential game- tying rally by the Mounties in the fifth. With runners on first and second and no outs. Hopper picked KM’s Mark Champion off second base, fanned Brent Bell and then got Jeff Moss on a grounder to third to end the threat. Then, his homer in the sixth iced the decision. Anderson, Moss, Terry Bullock and Eric Spicer had one hit each for the Mounties. The Ashbrook game Saturday was almost a carbon copy of Fri- day’s loss at Huss, as the Green Wave used a pickoff to get out of a KM rally in the fifth inning which could have ended the game in regulation. With one out, the Mounties loaded the bases, but Champion Rotary Club Tourney Opens Golfing Season The ninth annual Kings Mountain Rotary Club Scholar ship Tournament will kickoff the 1982 golf tournament schedule at Kings Mountain Country Club March 27-28.
