No. 8 April 29,1955 Ocracoke, liorth Carolina Edit or-in-Chief; Murray Fulcher Business iVIanager; Harold Wahab Reporter; Sherry O'Neal OCRACOKE HIGH SCHOOL ALUlilNI ENJOY BAI^IO.UBT Sixty alumni graduates of Ocra coke High School were present for j the annual alumni meeting and banquet on April 15th, As usual long tables in the school library were attractively decorated in Glass colors, purple and gold, pink and white, green and v/hite, pink and green; candlelight and pretty corsages; and the best of banquet food -- all made it a gay occasion, Maxine Mason, president of the Alumni Association, called for toasts,which were given by Iva Garrlsh, Nova O’Neal, Virginia Howard, Albert Styron,Jr,,read Kipling's poem "IP"; Blanche Howard and Danny Garrish sang "This is the Hour", Officers were slscted for 1955-56; Danny Garridi, president; Virginia Howard,vice- president; Jack Willis, secretary; Fannie Willis, treasurer; Blanche Howard, Iva Garrish, Daisy Gas- kill, and Lillian Fulcher,committso on banquet arrangements. Following the dinner many of those present adjourned to the recreation hall for danolng, * w * H’ HUNGRY? A, APRIL LEETING About forty were present at the April PTA meeting; president T.H, V/ahab,presiding. Treasurer's re port indicated approximately ^225 in the treasury. Three new members were welcomed; lir.and Mrs, Hazen Brooks and Mrs, Goraldlne Tolson, Principal Rondthaler gave a report of suggestions made by State Dept, of Education people v^ho recently visited Ocracoke School; Homer A. Lassiter, State Supervisor of Elementary Education; Cora Paul Bomar, State School Library Advisor; and Helen Stewart,Advisor, Physical Education, Ho roportod also on school population trends, P.T.A, voted to purchase a North Carolina State Flag; also to pur chase more library books for the first grade children and also more of fourth grade level. After the business mooting,group singing was enjoyed. Secretary announced hostesses for May: Mrs, W, H, Halo, Wilma lyilllams, Dicio Wells, Louiodollo Willlams,Gladys Williams, and Lois Ann Wahab, -it- -Si- -it HUNGRY?
