About forty—five out and a very good supper. Business meeting: treasurer’s reported indicated balance of $273.84, plus dues collected $30,25; plus money in from Ocracoke pamphlets $8.56, making a total of $312.74. P. T,.A, voted to pay for materials necessary to installation of steam heat in School Recreation HaH, connecting to school building. Several of the men have agreed to do the viork, P.T.A, voted to provide a closet and shelf space in the senior room and shelf space in the 9th-10th room^ P, T,A,voted to purchase some beginner's dictionaries for primary use. P. T.A. voted to buy a dust pan for the 7th-8th grade room, since Mrs.Rondthaler reported she wanted to teach the pupils how to clean up around their desks, P. T.A, voted to buy some bird pictures for Miss Hodges' room, Gapt,Marvin Howard, lately returned from the jungles of Venezuela,v/hore he spent six months as captain of a sea>i-' going hopper dredge in Maracaibo Lake, announced that he would be the organizer, promoter, executor of the annual July 4 Parade at Ocracoke, provided he could JNCC “HcU get a Committee to do the planning and the v/orki He assumed that the Civic Club woiiLd back the parqde effort this year,but seemed to feel he would need some of the ladies on the Committee, Several'volunteered to help: Doris Garrish, V/ilma V/illiams, Leevella Howard , Neva O'Neal, Irene O'Neal, Virginia Eshara, Immediately several of the men also voliinteered to serve on the Committee: Monford Garrish, Eph Esham, Jesse Garrish, Theodore Rondtha- ler, Elmo Fulcher,' Capt,Howard them hinted that undoubtedly the P. T.A, v.'ould v;ant to give some money for prizes. Mrs.Rondthaler suggested that this be decided at the February meeting after the Civic Club had announced its contribution. Group singing -was enjoyed, with auto harp accompaniment: "Daisy,Daisy", "After the Ball was Over," "Break the nev/s to Mother",and other heart-rending selections. Meanwhile several of the women washed the dishes, Mr.Rondthalor showed a ton minute movie '■Iron Horses" — all about electric trains. Picture,like toy electric trains, designed for children, but the grown-ups enjoyed it also.
