Before her marriage she was Janice Murdoch of Wild wood near Morehead City, She is a grad uate of Flora MacDonald College, Before coming to Ocracoke she taught in the Durham County and also the Durham City Schools# Ocracoke School has several new pupils. There is Ronald (Ronnie)Howr.rd in the 9th grade, Ronnie is the son of Edgar H award, a native of Ocracoke, who wont off the Island and made a name for him self in the musical show world. Yflien it comes to playing banjo, Edgar Ho’.vard is ''tops", Ronnie hr?s attended schools in New York Fbate and in Florida. He is^ living with Joe Gaskins, Ho says he likor Ocracoke and he likes Ocracoke School# There are three nev; pupils in Miaa Hodges' room; Mi.chael Stowe in the 5th and Rovrena Stowe in the 4tlatiLast year they v/ere at Buoc.ton School, Their par^ ents are Mr.,and MrscChai’les Stowe; Mr# Stowe is Chief on the 63"*foot0r at the local CrGoStation# The family lives in the former Alice 7/illiams homo# There is also Doraiie Stowe in the 2nd grade, and David Ballance in the 3rd and Eugene Ballance in the first# Other first graders are Kenneth Garrish,David F.O'Neal,Jr,,Leonard Mack Tolson,Jack Carol Willis,Jr,,Judy Queen Ballance,' Judith Gail Gaskins, Fdna Mae Parsons, Bcthae Robinson,Bessie Christine Spencer, and Phyllis Jean Styron, all of #iom seem to be enjoying school, Ellen Marie'Fulcher is back for post graduate work, specializing in general business,and with shorthand as a new sub ject# Two other post-graduates are "Tip", Ward's dog, who has been'attending school ever since'Ward was here, and "Gyp", Bill's dog, has been coming off and on since Bill loft# Joe Ben's kitten enrolled this year along with t he first graders# Da-vid Esham is taking C^homistry this ^gaj^mder the suprevision of Mr.Rond-
