of satisfaction seems to be pre
vailing among Negro leaders in
view of the sentencing on Monday
of four white youths who raped
a Negro coed.

the youths to life imprisonment.
The sentence is the sliffest that
could be imposed under the jury’s
recommendation for mercy.
The youths have 60 days to flie
notice of an appeal Only one of
the four youths has indicated any
such intention.
