Mrs. Clinton’s first fiction con tribution in the writing field is a mystery' and is being published by Christopher House, in Boston. Hampton Grad Returns To Give Concert HAMPTON, Va. Appearing be fore a small but enthusiastic audi | ence, Miss Joanna Owens, soprano, jan alumna of Hampton Institute, | presented her homecoming per formance in the Institute’s Ogden Hall last. week. Singing fourteen numbers, rang ing from Brahms' Lullaby, through excerpts from Verdi's 'La Travia ta‘ to Negro Spirituals, Miss Owens exhibited well the vocal fo.m that earned the praise of New York cri tics. She returned for three curtain calls. Miss Owens is a 1956 graduate of Hampton's division of music. She taught voice and music appreciation at Clark College, Atlanta. Ga., for a year following graduation and toured Europe with the Harold Nicholas musical. “Free and Easy”, in 1559. Studying further under Robert McFerrin and Madam Lotte Leon ard of the Julliard School of Music, New York, Miss Owens has ap peared with ’ the Mannes College Opera Theatre.
