J. In Phti de lph la, they were the house guests of Mrs. Ellis’ brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. George Hawkins and son, Ron ald, of 2532 N. 32nd Street. On Tuesday, August 24, they traveled to Atlantic City's swank Club Harlem, where Mrs. Ellis’ other daughter, profes sionally known as Shirley May, was featured vocalist for three weeks, along with Sammy Davis Jr., who is vacationing from his hit Broadway show, “Gold en Boy,” and others. Shirlee a former model, is slated tc open with the Larry Steele Re vue in Las Vegas, Nevada, this fall. Earlier in the summer, Miss Barbara Ellis and sister, Miss Shirlee May, visited Bermuda from July 6-14. Shirlee ap peared at Kindley Air Force Base in Hamllnton, the capital city of Bermuda. They tra veled via Eastern Airlines. Mrs. Ellis and daughter re turned to Raleigh last Thursday afternoon. At St. Matthews Baptist church on the Louisburg Rd., the County Wide Sermon of the R. V. Society of N. C. was held with a large number of members present. J, announce the marriage of their daughter, Miss Loretta Mae, to Mr. Thur man Mozart Davis, son of Mrs. John C. Davis, Sr., of Raleigh, North Carolina. The ceremony was held on July 24 at the First Baptist Church In Swedes boro. The Rev. Robert D. Smith officiated. Attending the bride was Mrs. Frank Domas, her sister, of Swedesboro. Supporting the groom was John C. Davis, Jr., his brother of Washington, D. C. Serving as ushers were Frank Domas, of Swedesboro, and Waymond H. Beslow, of Washington. Mr. and Mrs. Davis are re siding Li the Metropolitan Washington, D. C. area where, the groom is employed as an architect with the Federal Gov ernment. ELLA MCCLEOD VISITS Mrs. Ella McCleod, of 611 East Martin Street, has return ed to the* city after a delight ful visit with her son, Mr. George McCleod, of Baltimore, Maryland, and her daughter, Mrs. Nellie Mae Kirk, of Phil adelphia, Pennsylvania. She also visited Mr. Peter McCleod, another son. RETURNS FROM VACATION ING IN N. Y. Mr. and Mrs, Ben Hawkins, of !33 S. Tarboro St., have recently returned home from vacationing In Brooklyn, N. Y. with their daughter and son. While there, they made a second visit to the World’s Fair (previously visited last summer). Many other interest ing sights were seen and they were- entertained on several occasions at the daughter's home. A sister and brother of Mrs. Hawkins, who resides In Long Island also visited them. Mrs. Hawkins spent quite a bit of time engaged In interior decorating of her children’s new home. They are Eunice and Ben Hawkins, formerly of this city. The Hawkins were accompanied on the trip by Mrs. Lula Cobb, mother of Mrs. Hawkins. week. Let's hope that he is not disappointed. The nurses have done it a galn. They have placed Mes sers L.. H.
