A chain is no stronger than its weakest link. If one link in a chairn will hold one hun dred pounds, .mother fifty, and another ten, ti e chain as a whole will hold ton pounds, no more. This is why James 2:10 says: "For whosoever .shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in om point, he is guiltv of all.” Many people suppose that we will be sated or lost accord ing to hov good or bad wo have been. But born-again Christians find that the above principle is just as true of them as of the unbeliever. None of us is any stronger than his weakest point. Frightening, isn't it, especial ly when we consider that Sa tan constantly attacks us at our weakest point to wreck our testimony if he can. But here is where the be liever can rejoice that "the Spirit... helpeth our infirmi ties'’ (Rom. 8:26). He dwells within to help in time of need, so that we need not fail (Rom. 8;11, 12), This does not moan, however, that He takes control without being called upon, as He did "when the day of Pen tecost was fully, come.” Unlike the Pentecostal believers, we live under ‘ the dispensation of the grace of God.” What God provides by grace we must ap propriate by faith. Thus in any given case we may have victory. MEDITATION ASERMONETTE BY COI.IN DOUGLAS ‘ Be not slothful.” - Hob. 6:12. Some persons have the habit of theorizing so much about life and what is right and im portant in life, that they nev er really get down to the im portant business of LIVING their lives and of accomplish ing the desires of their hearts. Some blame other persons for taking their time and energies, and feel that they have not had the opportunities and ad vantages others have had. Actually, if we really and truly want to accomplish any thing at all, we can do it. But we cannot reach our goals just by talking about them, or by reading about what some one else has accomplished, or just by praying about it. We must DO the work ourselves! We must enlist the aid of God through prayer, and then we must co-operate with HIM by our own physical efforts to achieve our goals. One thing that keeps many persons from concentrated ef fort Is their feeling that they must keep an eye on the whole of their lives or they will lose out somewhere along the line. The whole of our lives is made up of small.experiences, small conditions, small problems - and how we conduct ourselves through each of these situations adds up to the amount of spirit ual progress we make through life and consequently to the amount of happiness and satis faction and success we achieve. We must pray regularly and faithfully for guidance, and then armed with out renewed faith in God’s never-failing power we can sally forth to meet life. Keeping in mind the old Persian proverb, "Luck is in fatuated with the efficient,” we do efficiently all those things which are daily asked of us. "Jehovah will guide thee con tinually, and satisfy thy soul.” --Isa. 58:11. Three Lyceums Announced By N. C.
