It should be a place of quietness and re spected by the students. Some times students misinterpret the purpose of a school. At times students look upon the school as being a place to socialize. Stu dents think that just because they participate in extra cur ricular activities they should be given credit, for class work. That is not performed because they are in this meeting or that meeting during that particular class hour. They shouldn’t let these activities interfere with their school work. Students should take pride In letting their class work come first. A well organized school shouldn’t have students walking In the halls during class hours. The gives birth to quadruplets. The Patrol News The Apex Consolidated High School Patrols gathered in Room 7 for a meeting brought together to discuss the Patrol Ball which will be held March 3. Suggestions were made as to how the members would raise money for the ball. The officers are: Danderlyn Johnson - Captain; Christian Brantley - Co-Captain; Grace Powell - Lieutenant. News The First Grade Class, Sec tion ID, at Apex Consolidated School is very busy getting rea dy for the long winter season. In the science class, the stu dents are learning scientific facts about the winter months; while in art, they are doing creative drawings which relate to the season. They are also learning about the proper cloth ing to wear and how to guard their health during the cold wintry months. Learning is fun for these first graders who have Mrs. M. H. QUESTION 1 If you could do one thing to make your school a better one, what would it be? OPINIONS: Deborah Lockley - “Encour age all students to make better grades, stay in school and take their work more seriously.” Jerry Council - “Better con duct and discipline for the Stu dent Body.” Glenda McMasters - "En courage the students to become more studious and develop an intelligent way in which to carry themselves. OPINION: Marilyn Hinton - “Yes, be cause some parents don’t tell their children about sex and therefore they are Ignorant a bout the facts of life,.” Jeanie Jeffreys - "Yes, be- Third Graders Take Trip The three sections of the Third Grade Class, of the Apex Consolidated School visited The Morehead Planetarium, in Cha pel Hill on Jan. 4, This trip was planned in order for the children to get a bet ter understanding of the unit Off to the Moon, in their Sci ence Class. . The presentation of the Star of Bethlehem made it possible for the children to get an idea of how people lived and dressed in comparison to today. The narrator explained the po sition of the stars and what Astronomers knew about the sky. He stated th#t the Star could have beer, a Nova, the passing of the planets or other astrologic happenings that we know about today. The classes sponsored' by Mrs. Ligon, Alston, and San ders, wdlh Mrs. Howard as aid. The children enjoyed a very interesting presentation of the Star of Bethlehem. Community Friendship Sunday, Jan. 14, the regular worship service will be held at the Christian Chapel Church beginning at 11:15 a. m. with Rev. Leon White, the pastor, in charge. All friends and visi tors are welcome to worship with us. Rev. White is an in teresting speaker. His ser is always informative and in spiring. The senior choir will render music. On Sunday after noon Rev. For a night of Fun and Frolic come on out. Rr« Destroys Him# The home of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Walden of Friendship was destroyed by fire on Jan. 4. The only part of the house left undamaged was the kitchen. The cause of the fire is be lieved to have been from the fuse box. The family is now living at the residence of Mrs. Ruby McMasters.
