Ronald Brewer, Route 1,
Buies Creek, told Officer R, E,
Williams at 1:13 a.m. Wednes
day, that he left his car park
ed and locked in the parking
deck at 212 S. Salisbury Street
while he went to the Capitol
Restaurant to eat and to the bus
station. Upon his return, he
found that his 1968 Oldsmoblle
had been broken into and his
wallet and console were mis
sing. The wallet was valued
at SB, while the console cost
him $25.

THIEF ENTERS HOUSE
Mrs. Gwendolyn Levonne
Powell, 405 Montague Lane, in
formed Officer C. B, Folger
at 4;55 a.m. Monday of last
week, that she left home at
9;30 p.m. that morning and
returned at 4;30 a.m. with two
friends, Rudolph Mickens and
Miss Alma Fort, to find that the
two front windows had been
broken and slight damage had
been done elsewhere. The com
plainant also said that she heard
someone inside her house when
she first arrived. Damage to the

Wake County Baptists Meet
The Baptists of Wake County
will send messengers tothe New
Bethel Baptist Church of Roles
ville on Friday, Saturday, and
Sunday, July 25 - 27. The Bap
tist Training Union, with Mrs.
Odessa Lane as president, will
be in session on Friday. A full
program has been planned. All
young people of the affiliated
churches are invited to take part
in the Youth Forum on Friday
and Saturday afternoons. An
Oratorical Contest will be held
Friday night.
The Sunday School Conven
tion of which Mr. T. B. Jiles
is president, will convene Sat
urday and Sunday. Reports, in
spirational sermon, Youth Fo
rum and a talent program are
on the agenda. Also on Sunday,
the Sunday School classes will
be taught by experienced men
and women, who have become

melee, Smith received a slight
laceration of the nose. The in

day of last week that a colored
male wearing a red shirt was
seen looking in the window by
his wife while she was prepar
ing to take a shower. When the
officer arrived, he observed
a colored male leaning on the
west side of the house, looking
in a window. When lie called to
him, he ran. He was chased and
that is how he managed to ar
rest 20-year-old Carlton
Phillip Winters, 530 E. Edentou
Street, on a charge of tres-

Officer G. W. Black at 7:45
p.m. Friday, that he and his
wife were arguing and she cut
him with a knife. The complain
ant told the officer that he did
not want to sign a warrant a
gainst his wife, Mrs. LaFrances
Archible, 20. He suffered a
three - inch cut in his right palm.

day, that Herman Currie, 38,
1011 Mark Street, came Into
her house and started ‘fussing’
and began to cut her. At this
time, Benny Marshall, also of
1010, tried to break-up the fight
and he was also ‘sliced.’ Miss
Williams said she struck Cur
rie with a bottle, causing sev
eral cuts on his head. The other
two received lacerations of the
forehead and nose.

Authorization for the alloca
tion was announced about two
years ago and actual site work
and construction have been un
derway for over a year. The
latter is in its final stages
and occupancy is scheduled by
the opening of the fall session
in September.
The new residence hall will
house 262 women students, two
house mothers, and two resid
ent supervisors. Including
furnishings and other essenti
als, Dr. McClennev says, the
overall cost of the major proj
ect will approximate $1,15 mil
lion.
The federal assistance was
granted under the College Hous
ing Program of HUD and
authorized by the Housing Act
of 1950, as amended, and is re
payable at three percent inter
est over forty years.
The check presentation was
made at a bond closing in HUD’s
regional offical in Philadelphia
to Dr. McClenney. On hand also
were George R. Hunrickhouse
of Richmond, Va., secretary of
the Board of Trustees and col
lege counsel, and Eugene G,
Eason, bond counsel for Saint
Paul’s.
