AREA "K” The Gary’s Creek Council met on June 18 and made the final plans for the buying club. A call meeting has been plan ned for June 30, 1970 to make the list of their first small order. Queen E. Shaw is Communi ty Developer, AREA "H” The Linden Neighborhood Council held its evaluation on Monday night, June 15, 1970. It was a very successful meet ing and many interesting points were stressed as well as ques tions asked. Our Board elections were held on Tuesday, June 16, 1970. the participation was great and Mr. Knox was elected to represent us. CHILD DEVELOPMENT CAPE FEAR CENTER We wish to thank the man agement of Me Lead's Barber Shop for hosting our children and staff on Monday. The barbers placed several of the children in the chairs and illustrated how a hair cut is accomplished. Tuesday found us at How ard Johnson’s Restaurant. Here, we were guided through the dining room and kitchen. For being so well-behaved, the children were given balloons, which they thoroughly enjoy ed. Youth Council Activities Prepared By Members Os The Fayetteville Youth Council BY CONNIE COLE Today the Fayetteville Youth Council radio show will be a bout the FYC play to be pres ented next month, "Spoon Riv er" will be put on two nights, with the Fayetteville youth doing the casting, directing and the make-up. Patty Mann and Dottie Rankin are in charge of the pro duction. On the radio show today at noon, Patty, Dotty, and Pa tricia Walker will be on the air. Patricia was in charge of last year's FYC play, “Every man Today.” Be sure and tune in to station WFLB and listen! The Youth Councils of North Carolina, Inc. held an executive board meeting in. Mount Airy last week. Attending from Fay etteville were Murry Fogler, YCNC chairman; Walter Cum mings, YCNC secretary; Rick Harper, district director; Woody Myatt, board member and Mrs. Gilmore, executive director for the FYC and the YCNC. Big plans are underway for the Fourth of July picnic to be held in Rowan Park, Events will begin at noon and last until five in the afternoon. Games, an art contest, a beauty con test, watermelon contest and entertainment will be held in the afternoon. James Graham, secretary of Agriculture, will try to beat our Mayor Holt in a watermelon seed spitting con test about four o'clock. David Freeman is chairman of this well planned event. The FYC hopes that all of you, with your families, will join them for the day. The "Save the Arsenal” drive Is still under way. They told the Jay cetts what FYC is and the alms that they have for the organi zation and about the many proj ects and services they offer to the youth of Fayetteville. Derb Carter is in charge of the junior tennis tournament for the Fayetteville Javcees. The three boys and one girl that are winners in the event will be sent to the state tournament in Greensboro next month by the Fayetteville Jaycees. William Davis has been elected as the corporate board member to YCNC from Fay etteville. The chairman for the corporate board will be elected at the next YCNC board meet ing to be held in High Point in August. If you find time on your hand during the summer months, come to an FYC meet ing. We will find a project to keep you busy-Project Sharp on Saturday mornings at Cape Fear Court Recreation Center, answering the phone for "Call- In”, making posters for our play or working on the big day.
