George V. Hess of the Raleigh Social Se curity Office pointed out that many employers and workers alike still have the idea that these wages are not covered or that coverage is voluntary. This is not so. The law does not provide for a choice In this mat*er. If the wages from any one employer are $50.00 per calendar quar ter or more, they are covered under social security. If wages are less than that amount, they are not reported. It is the em ployer's responsibility for re porting wages paid to domestic workers, Hess said. These workers, like any others, build up social security coverage to help protect them and their de pendents from old age. Noncredit Activities At NCCU Attracted Over One Hundred DURHAM - While 1,660 stu dents enrolled in courses for ■ college credit this summer at North Carolina Central Univer sity, 153 were attracted to spe cial programs which did not of fer credit. The 153 included 13 persons with learning problems partici pating in laboratory classes in special education, 20 young sters in the nursery school con ducted by the department of home economics, 12 persons who were enrolled in the speech and hearing clinic at the univer sity, 35 elementary school youngsters in laboratory class es, and 29 teenagers in a youth development workshop offered by the department of health education.
