But let every man take heed now he buildeth thereupon.” In what sense was Paul the master-builder of the Church, and what "foundation” did he lay 0 Did he not himself say that "other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Christ Jesus”? Yes, he did-- and in this very passage! He sought to lay no other founda tion than Christ, hut God Pad chosen him to proclaim Christ In a new way. Some years previous our Lord had asked His disciples: "Whom say ye that I am,” and Peter had instantly replied; “Thou art the Christ (Messiah), the Ron of the living God” (Matt. 16;16). This is how be lievers in general had recogniz ed Him at that time (John 1:49; 6:69; 11:27; 20:31). "V\e have been busy across the country lining up support ever since.” The Alumni is handling all details, and doing all the leg work to make the project a suc cess. "Whatever the University realizes from this effort,”said D;. Kitig V, Cheek, Jr., Piesi dent of Shav. "we will owe the hard work and tremendous ef fort to th< 1 f SI aw,’’ "The long montl s of pian nir.y and hard work will just begin rather than end,” said Mrs. Rivers, when we foimal ly kick the campaign off. The kick off is scheduled for Nov. 20, at 7 p.m. That is when A lumni will return to Shaw for i'.i miaiai coming festivi- Messianic kingdom was to be established upon Christ as God’s annointed Son (Messiah means "announted’’), But with the raising up of Paul, God began to form "the Church which Is Christ’s body” (Fph. 1:22, 23; Col. 1:24, 25). This is the Church of today, and it is founded, not on Christ as King, bu* as the exalted Lord and Head of the "one body” (I Cor. 12 : 13). Paul does not present Christ as Messiah, but ns Lord. In Rom. 10;9 he declares: "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth Jesus as LORD, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the deed, thou shalt be saved.” Again in I Cor. 12:3: "No man can say that Jesus is the LORD, but In the Holy Spirit.” And a gain in Phil. 2:9-11 he declares that God has highly exalted Christ and given Him a name above every name "that ev ery tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is L.ORD, to the glory of God the Father.” Have you confessed Him as your Lord and Savior? iit-a. t\ uaiiquet to launch the Drive will be held on the cam pus of Shaw University in the University Ballroom at 7 p.m. All proceeds according to Rid dick will go to Shaw as a part of the Alumni’s contribution to th• ■ Million Friends Campaign. The host chapter for all Homecoming activities for a lurnni is the local (Raleigh) chapter. according to Mrs. Rivers, Miss Alumni will be crowned during the banquet. Maivin P. Goode, ABC’s UN Correspondent will keynote the event. "It time,” Riddick said, with .1 note to urgency in iris voice, "that we, as alumni of predominately Mack colleges and universities, decided to be serious as a total organization about the needs of our institu tions. It is time we gave them the support they so rightly de serve.” Riddick quickly added he was not talking about the few Alumni who continuously supported the university each year, but he said he was referring to the alumnus who had and will continue to leave (he institution without ever returning or ever thinking of it again unless he needs the school again. Riddick said "our black in stitutions are playing a vital role in educating our youth, and it is up to us to take the initiative in assisting in their support. We can not es pect outside sources to assist with that support, if we do not take the first step.” Riddick says tie has no doubt about the success of the cam paign. "I’m thoroughly convinc ed that those of us who have remained close to Shaw through the years will convince other' "Shawites” of the need, and our friends as well. We are shoot ing for at least 500 people for the Kick-Off Banquet” he add ed. MEDITATION A SERMONFTTE BY COLIN DOUGLAS "Show Thy marvelous lov ing-kindness. . Psalms 17;7. Resolve today, and every day, to be kind in thought, word and deed. Try your very best to bring only job, only peace, only love, into the lives of all the persons with whom you come into contact. Resolve to be kind, not only to your friends, but to keep yourself lovingly sensitive to the needs of those who timidly stand apart--for we all know that God does not want ant of His children to feel alone. Resolve, when another per son makes a mistake, that you will not condemn him in your thoughts or with any outer signs of displeasure--that you will act toward him as you would have him act toward you if you were in his place. And, if words of correction seem advisable, resolve to speak them in a kindly and considerate tone of voice. Resolve that, when others are irritable, you will not add fuel to their fire by respond ■ ing irritably--but that you will think of God, so that your thoughts of Him may imbue you and all your words and actions. By adhering to these resolu tions, you will change and re make your world, filling it with love joy, peace and harmony, for if you radiate nothing but love, kindliness, patience, tol erance, generosity toward all the persons about you, you can not help but attract these same qualities to yourself. Establish ed in the spirit of God, you will always walk along the right path. Imbued through prayer with the power of His presence, your path will be cleared of all barriers, and you will a chieve your goals with the ease of a conquering spirit. "We love the children of God, when when we love God.” T John 5:2. * * * UNICEF is active in over 100 countries, bringing mil lions of children better health and nutrition.
