The lesson was taken from the book of Jeremiah and the subject was “Thr Reshaping of Life.” The male chorus was in charge of the music for the H a.m. worship services. The call lo worship, invocation and scripture was by the pastor from the book'of Luke 12:16*21. The morning prayer was given by Deacon William Horton. The announcements were made by Miss Josette Price. The morning message was delivered by the pastor, Rev. J. E. Perkins. His text was taken from the book of Luke 13:6*10 and he used for a subject, "Lord leach us to number our days that we may apply our hearts unto I wisdom." Visi* Miss Hayes tors are always welcome at First baptist. Visitors who worshipped with us were Mr. Franklin Grice and son from Newark, New Jersey. Installation services will be held at First Baptist on Sunday, January 7th, at 7 p.m. We are asking that all officers of each auxiliary be present and on time to be installed for the year of 1973. The senior choir will render the music. Rev. L. W. Held. Durham, will render the installation services sermon. Everyone is invited to come out. When Christmas is over and the tree has been stripped and you look at the floor all littered with toys, do you stop and think and then say "Thank you God for all little girls and boys?" The month of December was filled with many- interesting events, Mrs. Mc Lean's concerts that was the best ever and enjoyed by everyone if you didn't get to hear the group, then you missed music of a lifetime. Rev. W. H. Lucas, pastor of the Galiee Baptist Church, preached a very soul stirring message with a subject "Storms In Life." Folk at Galilee are making preparations to erect a new edfice May God bless them lo accomplish their mission. Rev. R. L. McCormick preached a wonderful sermon Sunday morning. A wonderful crowd turned out in spite of very bad weather. Rev. McCormick is a very busy man. He works from sun to sun trying to get his work done. May God bless you Rev. McCormick. Have a good year. Folk at First Baptist have enjoyed services every Sunday with the pastor in charge. Rev. J. B. Woodhouse is making preparations for many pro grams in the year of 1973. Little Miss Rita Dublin was crowned a few weeks ago Miss "Cindrella." Nadine Sanders and Michelle Session did get in the queens court. This was a beautiful affair. Congratula tions young folk. Many thanks ^rls and boys for making the Christmas program a great success. You all were great. Mrs. Lee is very proud of her little folk that are always so anxious t get things done. On Sunday night, the Com munity Watch meeting was held at the Holly Springs United Church of Christ. A group took out time to assemble and thank God for having brought them through the year of 1972. MADDIE FLOYD ZEBULON • We were sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. William Oscor Mills, who was funeralized on Dec. 24. Rev. J. W. Bridgmon delivered the eulogy. Interment was in Gethesemane cemetery. The family will miss him. I hope everyone had a merry Christmas. Lots of people from Zebulon attended the Ministers' and Deacons Union meeting at New Bethel Baptist Church, Dec. 30 and 31. The union was very good, and lots of people from other churches attended. Penny left us with some great spiritual remarks; "You want an anchor __ . that will hold in MRS. AUTW Jesus Christ, anchor your soul in Jesus Christ, the church and nation must realize that Jesus Christ died for us all our sin. God's word is an anchor for me. We need to anchor ourselves in love, hope, prayer, and peace. God will come lo check the ship and the anchor, God's anchor, that carried us through 1972 will carry us through 1973." Rev. A. A. She has rendered faithful service, as pianist, for Holy Tabernacle Church for 20 years. She also serves for Ever Green Holy Church. Salemburg. Due to the absence of Sister Lacy Cooper, who -was to preside for the occasion, the pastor. Rev. S. D Clemmon, was in charge of the appreciation service. The sen ior choir sang, while Mr. James Crumpler, furnished music on the guitar. The scripture was read from Psalm. Remarks were made by the pastor on how God had kept her these many years, and how she had been blessing to the church. and others as welt, Mrs. McLaurui and that is why we are giving her flowers while she now lives, because when she is dead, the little bud that was given her, she cannot smell, to know the fragrance there of. Mr Allen, president of the senior choir, gave some interesting remarks as to how the cooperative spirit existed from time to time and how you could depend upon her at all times. Also Bro. Joe Miller, Bro. Elivia Culbreth, Rev. Sister Catherine Smith, Rev. Sis. Hattie Armwood, Bro. Baker, Sis. Bertha Hill, and others had a few remarks. Bro. James Crumpler was also honored for his fine service as a guitarist with fine picking. Miss Mary Julia Culbreth came forth with a reading on the behalf of the appreication service for the honoree for service render^ as pianist at Holy Tabernacle and other churches as well. The church loves her for her untiring service. Soloist was Mrs. Beatrice Crumpter and a request solo by Mrs. Nora McLaurin. Miss Cheek spoke on the behalf of the young adult choir. Mrs. Louise PoweTl. Miss Mary J. Culbreth present^ her with a purse and other gifts. Bro. Fenell was rememtered also. The service was enjoyable as well as inspirational. The service closed with remarks by Rev. Clemmon. God made us and he knows all about us because our life is in His hands to serve Him all our life and trust that He will keep us to do service for Him 20 more years. May God bless all of you. Everyone was dismiss^ until around 11 p.m. when they came back for watch service to sing and give priase to the Lord for keeping us through 1972. Rev. Clemmon read from Psalm 103. Singing was by the congrega tion, after which all knelt before the alter while a seasonal prayer was led by Rev. Sis. Armwood. At 12:15 we went into the dining hall for a good and tasty breakfast which lasted an hour. The breakfast consisted of a choice of sausage, bacon, grits, scrambled eg^, pan cakes and syrup, toast, coffee, juice, and milk of which was very tasty. The hostess was Mrs. Ossie P. Miller, Louise Powell, Dorothy Parker. Betty Parker, and Debbie Culbreth. Keep the good work up girls. Laymans Counsel Mrvices were held at Big Zion in Kennensville. Sunday morning worship at n a.m. Rev. T. R. Singletary brought the morning message. His text was taken from John 1. He preached an inspiring message. His senior choir accompanied him from St. Thomas. Presiding Elder Moore of the Clarkton District, presided due to the illness of Elder Burney of Goldsboro District. He thanked the many friends and their churches for service rendered here while he was In the hospital. After the business session, dinner was served and was enjoyed by all. Do not make resolutions unless you intend to keep them. Wish all of you a Happy New Year. We say to the college students "Boys and girls, we are so proud of each and every one of you. Welcome home and have a happy holiday and a very good New Year. We are depending on you. our citizens of tomorrow. We love you all." MARY MOSS Sunday School opened at Felton Grove Church at 10 a.m. with R6v. Mac A. Baker as acting supt., and Miss Gloria Blackman, the sect. It was a real good lesson and we all enjoy^ it. Also there were many good remarks made about how thankful to be able to see the last Sunday in the year of 1972. At 10:33 Sunday night, watch meeting was held. Many New Year resolutions were made. Next Sunday there will be regular worship services held. Rev. Thompson, the pastor, will deliver the morning message. You are welcome to worship with us on each 1, 2. and 3 Sunday. "Miss Feltonsville” is ready to go places and do things. We hope to be able to send her many places this year if each club will help. FOSTER ZEBULON — On December^' 24, Sunday School began at 10 a.m. with the asst, supt.. Deacon Champion, in charge of the devotion and Mrs. Clara ^ Richardson as secretary. Morning worship began at its usual hour, li a.m. with the pastor. Rev. Richard L. Haith, presiding. The young adult choir rendered the music, under the direction of Miss Janet Miles. The morning hymn was Close To Thee. The scripture was read by the pastor, from St. Matt. 1:18-25. Prayer was offered by Deacon R. P, Richardson. The pastor then gave space for a short testimonial service. Afterwhich the choir sang a spiritual selection. The Solid Rock. After reading verses 8-li of the 2nd chapter of St. Luke. Rev. Haith chose for a subject, A Gift From God. The sermon was centered around the 10th verse....And the angel said unto them. Fear net. for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be lo all people. This was a great Christmas message. He stressed ine point that God gave His Son to be born as an eternal gift for the world * Prayer was then offered for the sick and shut-ins. A love token was sent to Sister Grade Cromartie who is a patient at Wake Memorial Hospital. We were very happy to have Mr. Earl Fuller from Burlington, to worship with us. Following the morning worship the youth department presented a lovely Christmas program with Mrs. J. T. Locke, in charge. The program consisted of readings, recitations and a piano recital. The young adult choir also sang beautiful Christmas carols. Preceeding the Christmas program the congregation gathered in the dining hall for the fellowship dinner and the exchanging of gifts.
