The other predictable reac tion was to pronounce that there exists a "conspiracy" of "terrorists" who are bent on "setting race against race" U. S. Reo. Richard H. Ichord. D. Mo., said he would seek immediate hearings by the House Judiciary Committee on a bill he had previoulsy introducted making it a Federal crime to kill or assault a law officer or fireman while In the line of duty. Sen. James Eastland, D. Miss., said he would introduce legislation to restore the death penalty for killing policemen. Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Eastland said his bill would also make the killing of a policeman a Federal crime and a similar bill is being prepared by Sen. Richard S. Schweiker, R. Pa. Louisiana's Ed Edwards, in remarkable contrast to his lack of public outrage at the law-officer slayings of two Black Sputhern University students, delcared that "at tacks on the policemen and fireman constitute attacks on the whole society." Louisiana’s Attorney General William Guste has call for a Federal investigation to det ermine whether the Howard Johnson killings were part of a "national suicidal group” bent on spreading racial warfare across the country. Guste reported that U. S. Attorney General Richard Kleindist assured him that the full force of the Justice Department will be behind a national Investigation to det ermine whether there is such a national group. "Their purjMse is to cause the people to be dissatisfied, to bring race against race, black against white, young against old, to cause International chaos," Guste said of the alleged conspirators. Meanwhile, some observers of political trends in the United States predict that local black communities all over the country will feel the effects of the official campaign to "un cover" the "terrorists" and "conspitators" that law officers will be attempting to find. Other speculation centers around the training and back ground of the men who initiated the New Orleans gun battle, wondering at their deadly accuracy, and the possible getaway of a second "terror ist.” , INFLATION FIGHT Price Commission Chair man C. JacksonOrayson has ' testified that the adminis tration's wage and price con trols had made "significant" gains in fighting inflation. However, at this time the chairman is against controls on food. CUBA ON HIJACKING The Cuban government has indicated a willingness to cooperate in efforts to deal with air piracy. Secretary of State William P. Rogers met briefly with Ambassador Felix Schnyder of Switzer land, whose nation repre sents U.S. Interests in Ha vana.
