LIBRARY NOTES
The Library would like to call
the attention of the teachers to
the unmounted pictures, in color
and in black and white, of most
of the prominent artists of the
past and the present, which the
Library has on file. Envelopes of
these pictures may be borrowed
as needed for supplementary class
work.
Also, we have the RECON
STRUCTION OF tHE - PAST
portfolios from the Museum of
Fine Arts, Boston. These are fine
engravings which show fully “Life
in 18th Century England,” “Eliz
abethan England,” “The French
Renaissance” and “Greek Ath
letes and Festivals of the Fifth
Century.” For teaching any of
these periods, these engravings
will be a definite help. In fact, if
there is anything you need in the
picture line, it might be well
worth your while to see if we can
not supply it.
If you are planning to build a
house soon, either with your own
hands or by contracted work, you
had best set about it immediately,
before government restrictions
make it impossible. The library
has a large selection of books on
the subject which save you time
and money if you will consult
them beforehand: Catlin, “Build
ing Your New House;” Cobb,
“Your Dream House and How to
Build It for Less than $3,500;”
Crane, “Everyman’s House;"
Creighton, “Planning to Build;”
Dalzell, “Your New Home;” Dun
ham, “Planning Your House for
Better Living;” Eberlein, “Re
modeling and Adapting the Small
House;” Graff, “The Prefabricat
ed House;” Henessey, “America’s
Best Small Houses;” Johnstone,
“Building or Buying a House;”
Laidman, “How to Build Your
Own House;” Rogers, “Plan Your
House to Suit Yourself;” Tuomey,
"How to Build Your Own House;”
Williams, “Modernizing Old Hous
es;” and “Old American Houses
& How to Restore Them;” Mein
ecke, “Your Cabin in the Woods;”
Merrill, “Rammed Earth House”,
and others.
