MANNS HARBOR MAN SLAYS
BIG BEAR IN HIS GARDEN
Morris B. Midgett of Manns
Harbor, Saturday is reported to
have slain a large bear which
came in his garden in the heart
of the village. It is reported as
the third bear to have come into
his garden. Previously he had
shot at one of a pair, wounding it,
when later the third bear came.
Bears are getting thicker on
the mainland each year, due to
the growth of trees and foliage,
they become bolder, attracted
perhaps by succulent vegetables
grown by the residents.
