Knight (Bob) as he is affectionately known, for the first time in over 40 years missed attending the Sunrise Prayer Meeting annually held at the Columbia Church at 7 a.m. on Christmas Morning. Capt. Bob is a man of stout heart, a true Baptist, loyal to his church; is 81 years of age, and says he is just a young swain. The reason, to be with his wife ill in Norfolk, recuperating from a recent operation and unable to travel. Capt. Bob has many fine chil dren and grandchildren. Two sons are pharmacists, R. S. Knight, Jr., of Columbia and Richard A. Knight of Spruce Pine; One son a Master Car penter and Constractor .Willie Knight, of Norfolk; one daughter whose husband is Post Master at Unadilla, New York, Mrs. Lee I. Murphy and to whom Robert Ruark, the noted commentator gave a plendid tribute about a year ago in a column written in regard to teacher pay; a son Ma son Knight of Washington, also a Master Carpenter, two other daughters Mrs. Pete Griffin and Mrs. George Moffat of Norfolk, who are fine upright citizens and Paul Hoggard, Jr., grandson, whom he reared, who is with the U. S. Navy and was stationed on the Battleship Missouri, when the truce was signed. SAWYER HOME WINNER IN DECORATION CONTEST Columbia. The contest for the home with the most attrac tive decorations in keeping with the Yuletide season, by the Co lumbia Jaycees, was put on again this year. First prize winner was the home of Mr .and Mrs. D. M. Sawyer; second prize was the home of Mr .and Mrs. Paul Liver man, with third prize going to the home of Mr .and Mrs. R. G. Riddick. Not included in the contest, but worthy of mention, is the Co lumbia High School, which for the past three Christmases has through the medium of Christmas scenes painted by the students on the windows given much joy to the passersby. SPENT SECOND CHRISTMAS' DAY IN SERVICE IN KOREA Cpl. William Marshall, son of Mrs. Patsy Marshall and the late S. S. Marshall, this year spent his second Christmas Day in Korea. He entered the U. S. Army in July of 1952, received his training at Indiantown Gap, Penn., and was sent to Korea with the 40th Division in De cember of last year.
