Mr. Meekins is serving with U.S.N. and will be in New Mexico in school for an indefinite period. Mrs. Meekins and “Cookie” will accompany her parents home for a while. Mrs. Mary Kirby Staton of Man teo was here Wednesday visiting Mrs. Woodrow Best. M. C. Mitchell, chief of police of Manteo, and Mrs. Mitchell were here Wednesday on business. Misses Wanda Midgette, Pat Twiford and Catherine O’Connell returned to Norfolk Wednesday after visiting here and in Engel hard. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Twiford spent Thursday in Norfolk. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Bodner and children of Norfolk have returned home after visiting Mrs. Bodner’s sister, Mrs. Josie Hooper and fam ily. Mrs. Kipling Wise and sons, Cliff and Bobby, of Connecticut, Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Hooper and Bettie Jo were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Wise Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Mason and children, Carl, Jr., Ted and Deb bie of Norfolk, Mr. and Mrs. John Pardue have returned to their homes after visiting Mr. and Mrs. Joe Midgette. The Rev. M. W. Maness and family of Durham are visiting Mrs. Maness’ sister, Mrs. C. E. Payne and her mother, Mrs. Bettie Nixon, who is quite ill at the home of Mrs. Payne. WANCHESE BIBLE SCHOOL COMMENCEMENT IS HELD Commencement exercises on Sunday will mark the end of Vacation Bible School at the Wanchese Assembly of God Church. The school has been held this week beginning Mon day morning under the direction of Miss Violet Bloom, N. C. As sembly of God Sunday School director. Approximately 70 children have attended from Wanchese and Manteo. Special Children’s Church Services were attended by 50 children Thursday night. The Children’s Church is a week ly service planned especially for children with children’s hymns and a simple sermon. The Bible School attended the annual Assembly of God Sunday School picnic Thursday after at Nags Head. A/lc Earl Ray Mann, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Mann, has received his discharge from the Harlinger Air Force Base, Harlinger, Texas, after serving four years with the air corps. During his four years he was in Korea for eleven months. Returning here from Texas Earl Ray will visit his brother, Carl Mann, Jr. and family in Birming ham, Ala. Miss Iva Mann, who has also been visiting in Alabama for several weeks, will accompany him home. Mr. and Mrs. Orvill Tillett spent Monday in Elizabeth City. Mrs. Elizabeth Ambrose and Mrs. Clarence Hassell were in Elizabeth City Thursday shopping. MRS. BERRY IS HONORED AT A PICNIC IN MANTEO Mrs. Nancy Berry of Engel hard was given a picnic by her family in honor of her birthday on Sunday. The picnic took place in Manteo. Among the approximately 40 guests present were Mrs. Nora Berry, Miss Mattie Berry, Wil liam Berry and family, Beamon Berry and family, Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Williams, and two grand children, and Miss Delia Neal of Engelhard.
