NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Pursuant to the authority vest
ed in it by the General Statutes of
North Carolina the Board of Con
servation and Development hereby
serves notice of a public hearing
to be held at the schoolhouse in
Poplar Branch, North Carolina, on
Monday, September 27, at 11:00
o’clock. The purpose of this hear
ing will be to consider a proposal
to increase the distance from the
head of pound nets to gill nets
from 400 to 600 yards when said
gill nets are operated in that part
of Croatan Sound lying north of
the line running from Northwest
point on the north end of Roanoke
Island to Reeds Point. This hearing
will follow immediately after the
hearing set for the same hour and
date and place to consider a pro
posal to close the waters of Curri
tuck Sound to commercial fishing
each year from April 10 to Sep
tember 15. Proponents and oppon
ents of the proposed change will
be heard.
