She will welcome news of Columbia and Tyrrell County CLUB HAS A FASHION SHOW COLUMBIA JUNIOR WOMAN'S Columbia. —The Columbia Jun ior Women’s Club presented its 1955 Spring Fashion Show for adults and children on Thursday night, March 3rd, in the high school auditorium. The following children modeled costumes supplied by “The Kiddie Shop”, Brenda Hales, Nancy Spencer, Elaine Cohoon, Debra Phelps, Wanda Hassell, Alice Ann Riddick, Becky Pledger, Gwen Woodard, Wayne Smith, Jay McClees, Wanda Cooper, Carol McClees, and Madge Etta Morris. The following members of the Junior Woman’s Club modeled cos tumes furnished by “The Fashion Shop”, Plymouth, and “The Betty Shoppe”, Edenton: Polly Alexan der, Louise Hales, Phyllis Jones, Myrtle Mitchell, Ada Virginia Cohoon, Lucille Walters, Mary Spencer, Sally Alexander, Norma Hamilton, Julia Rae Riddick, Betty Spruill, Mildred Hassell, Dean Simmons, Helen Yerby, Arthur Mae Davenport, Janie Sut ton, Winnie Simmons, Doris Smith, Mittie Lee Hamilton, and Winnie Woodard. There were approximately forty different costumes shown for adults and twelve for children. Local talent in the form of dancing presented by pupils of the Mountcastle School of Dancing, and various vocal presentations from others, were enjoyed. ILLINOr STATE PRESIDENT TO VISIT COLUMBIA CLUB • Columbia.—The Columbia Wo man’s Club will have as their guest on Thursday, March 10, Mrs. Edwin P. Brown, president of North Carolina Federation of Women’s Clubs, of Murfreesboro, at a dutch dinner in the Method ost Annex at 7:00 p.m. This will be a joint meeting with the Columbia Junior Woman’s Club, the Creswell Woman’s Club also being invited. Mrs. Brown will speak on “Wo men in Politics” in connection with Citizenship and Public Af fairs program, of which Mrs. E. J. Brickhouse and Mrs. J. G. Brickhouse will have charge. Other state officers who will at tend are Mrs. Harry L. Smith, of Windsor, president District 15; Mrs. C. W. Beasley and Mrs. Ruth White of Colerain. Mrs. Beasley will outline the “Sally Southall Cotten Loan Fund”, Committee in charge of decora tions are Mrs. Russell M. Ever ton, Mrs. D. A. Simmons and Mrs. John Hardison. This promises to be an interest ing program and those wishing to .attend, please contact Mrs. Wm. Chas. Cohoon, Phone 366-6. Non club members desirous of attend ing will be welcome. All club business will be trans acted at an executive meeting at the Agriculture Building on Fri day, March 4, at 4:00 p.m. The president urges all members to be present at this executive meeting. BOYS IN FOREIGN SERVICE P.F.C. Brian Liverman, U. S. Army, who has been stationed at Fort Jackson, S. C. in the capacity of MP, has been sent to Okinawa. Mr. Liverman is the son of Mr and Mrs. C. J. Liverman of Co lumbia Route Three. Pvt. Roger Armstrong, U. ”S. Army, who has for six months been stationed at Fort Knox, Ky., left for the Far East on March 4. Steagull, wife of the new assistant County Agent for Tyrrell, at the home of Mrs. Lloyd Davenport Saturday after noon. The guests were met at the door by Mrs. Davenport who introduced them to the receiving line con sisting of the honorees, Mrs. D. M. Bridgeman, president of the club and Mrs. Roy Roughton, vice-president. Mrs. Minnie Spruill, treasurer, directed to the dining room where punch was poured and cake serv ed by past presidents, Mrs. E.
