PAGE TWO NOTICE OF SALE OF VALUABLE PROPERTY Under and by virtue of that certain resolution adopted by the Dare County Board of Education at a duly assembled meeting thereof held on the 17th day of July 1959. and pursuant to the provisions of Section 115-126 of the General Statutes of North Carolina, and amendments there to. the schoolhouse and school house site hereinafter described, being in the opinion of the said board unnecessary and undesirable for public school purposes, the un dersigned will, on Thursday, the 9th day of June 1960, at 12:00 o'clock Noon, at the courthouse door in Manteo, Dare County, North Carolina, offer for sale at public auction to the _ highest bid der for cash the buildings and site hereinafter described: All that certain tract of land together with the houses and improvements thereon, lying and being in the village of Wanchese, on the South end of Roanoke Island in Nags Head Township, Dare County, N. C., adjoining the lands known as the A. P. Tillett tract, the Lula Etheridge tract, Earl Tillett, and others, and bounded as fol lows: Beginning at an iron pipe situated at the curb line in the South portion of the right of way of the N. C. State High way No. 1145 leading through the Village of Wanchese, said iron pipe being in and marking the North corner of the Robert M. Tillett property, formerly the A. P. Tillett property, point being also established by agreement between the Board of Education of Dare County and A. P. Tillett, dated April 4, 1938, and duly recorded in Book 21, page 112, in the office of the Register of Deeds of Dare Comity, N. C., running thence from the beginning point along the Robert M. Tillett, formerly A. P. Tillett, Northwest line South 17 deg. and 45 min. West 477 fleet to an iron pipe in the Lula Etheridge tract North line now the S. B. Tillett property; thence along the S. B. Tillett, formerly Lula Etheridge, lands North 44 deg. and 15 min. West 311 feet to an iron pipe in and marking the intersection of two old ditches, which are now closed, and also marking the South corner of the Earl Tillett lot; thence along the Earl Tillett Southeast line North 18 deg. and 15 min. East 349.25 feet to am iron pipe sit uated in the South portion of the aforesaid highway at the curb line thereof; thence along the curb line in said highway right of way South 68 deg. and 30 min. East 270.25 feet to the point of beginning, containing 2.56 acres, more or less. O’Neal won high score prize when Mrs. Robert Mitchell entertained members of her bridge club and Mrs. W. T. Ralph was a guest, in Belhaven. A dessert course was served upon arrival and fruit punch and candy during progressions. Spring flowers were used to decorate the home. Members playing were Mesdames Leon Smith, Andrew Hodges, J. H. Purvis, Otis Johnston, W. P. O’Neal, Paul Dawson, Melvin Lup ton, Lee Andrews, Frank Keaton, Mi-s. Ralph received a guest prize. WINSTEADVILLE PERSONALS WINSTEADVILLE. Mr. and Mrs. Norvelle Diamond and son Tommy Diamond of San Diego, California, were dinner guests of the L. C. Whartons Sunday. The Diamonds are on a cruise down the Atlantic coast after spending a year cruising the Mediterranean and North seas and other European and English waters. Mrs. Evelyn J. Hardison and son, Don Hardison, of Norfolk were week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Barnie Davis. Mr. and Mrs. Sid P. Davis and daughter, Terry, are spending this week at Williamston. Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Godfrey attended the funeral of L. L. God frey at New Hope Monday after noon. Mrs. Wallace Chamblee and Mrs. Irby Gill of Zebulon were week end guests of the L. C. Whartons. Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Selby and children of Williamston were dinner guests of Mr. Selby’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. O. Selby, Sunday. Jefferson. CHRISTIAN CHURCH NEWS At Swan Quarter Christian Church there will be no morning worship service May 22. Rev. Gar land C. Bland, will preach West Hyde’s High School Baccaleaureate Sermon at 10 a.m. The usual wor ship sen ice will be at 8 p.m. Sun day. Choir practice each 2nd and 4th Sunday evening at 7:00 o’clock. Prayer meeting each Thursday night at 8 o’clock. Friday night, May 27th, a weiner roast will be at Scranton Fellow ship Hall, for the winning teams by the losing teams, in contests held at Sunday School, Prayer Meeting and Bible quiz. Members of Scranton and Swan Quarter Christian Churches are sponsoring the entertainment jointly. CHANGE MEETING DATE The American Legion will meet the 4th Tuesday night, May 24, at the community building. The date has been changed from 4th Mon day to 4th Tuesday, so the Auxil iary can meet at the same time as the Legion members do. Mrs. Charlie Perry chaiman, says more Legion wives are wanted to join the Auxiliary.
