Sunday morning during the reg
ular church service the Rev. Angus
Miller, rector of St. James Epis
copal Church in Belhaven, install
ed nine newly elected vestrymen.
They are Mrs. Roy Justice, Mrs.
J. R. Brown, William Hackett,
John Boger, John Tooley, Cecil
Smith, R. L. Robinson, A. L. Gay
lord, and Dr. W. T. Ralph. In rec
ognition of many years of faithful
service, Walton O’Neal was named
vestryman emeritus.
On January 18 the annual
church meeting was held in the
parish house. Reports were given
by the officers of the church and
the ney vestrymen were elected.
The Rt. Rev. Thomas H. Wright,
Bishop of the Diocese of East
Carolina, will visit the church on
February 5 for the morning serv
ice. Immediately following, the
group will enjoy a “Dutch treat”
luncheon at the River Forest Man
or. Members of the congregation
are invited to attend this service
and luncheon.

women of Epworth Church met at
Mrs. Ray Spencer’s Wednesday
night to organize a W.S.C.S. but
due to the weather only ground
work was laid. Present were Mes
dames Allen Credle, Gilbert Rich
ards, Aubrey Swindell, T. B. Gibbs,
Ray Spencer and Rev. and Mrs.
Robt Bundy of Swan Quarter.
The hostess served hot cocoa and
sweet meats.

ON ECC HONOR LIST
James B. Roper, Belhaven, was
on the dean’s list for the fall quar
ter at East Carolina College in
Greenville. The dean’s list, includ
ing 191 students, is composed of
undergraduates who made at least
two and one-half quality points
per credit hour on all work taken.
The following Belhaven students
were among the 538 on the honor
roll: Washington E. Bateman, 111,
Delores F. Jordan (Mrs. Robert
Woodward), Lillie Anne Midgette,
and Willie Keaton Stanley. To be
on the honor roll a student must
make at least two quality points
per credit hour on all work taken.

has extended its revival services

gelistic work in Puerto Rico.
Work has begun on the new road
which will replace the steel matting
on the of the Hatter
as Inlet ferry slip. The main work
crew is expected to arrive soon.
