James Edwards, Jr., enter tained her bridge club and used fell flowers as decorations. Members playing were Mesdames Ed Harris, D. A. Rouse, E. X. Ross, Jr., Charles Latham, Charles Pow ell, Clifton Jones, Frank Noble and Russell Daniels. During cards the hostess served candy, drinks and salted nuts and at the close of the evening she served pie and hot coffee. Mrs Powell Received high score award, low went to Mrs. Daniels, and the floating prize to Mrs. Ross. Mrs. Charles Powell entertained her bridge club Tuesday evening and used fall flowers as decora tions. During cards the hostess served chocolate fudge, salted nuts and iced bottle drinks, and a dessert course at the conclusion of play. Playing were Mesdames Rad Jones, Victor Ruark, Bill Moore, I Thorne Paul, Harold White and Charlie Smith. High score was won by Mrs. Smith and the low went to Mrs. White. BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS Hamid Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs Charlie Smith; and Chris Bal lance, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Ballance, Jr. celebrated their thirteenth birthdays at a joint party at the Belhaven community center Wednesday evening. Dancing was the highlight of the evenings entertainment. Fruit punch, sandwiches, nuts and rake' squares were served. The ta ble was covered in white linen and centered with an arrangement of chrysanthemums flanked with white tapers in silver holders. The company’s familiar green will, over a period of time, give way to golden rod yellow and corinthian white. Reasons for the switch are listed as (1) Safety the lighter-colored vehicles are easier to see, (2) Economy main tenance costs of the new paint are expected to be lower, and (3) Comfort the interior of a yellow and white vehicle is 10 to 16 per cent cooler in the summer. Voliva, club president, pre sided; Henry Boyd, Jr., led the ‘ group in pledging Allegiance to the i Flag and the invocation was given by A. L. Gaylord. A turkey dinner was served.
